I'm going to do a 5 star rating here - even though this board lacks backlighting which is something that is really helpful for me when I do low-light video editing. Battery consumption (if that's Apple's logic for no backlighting) can be easily managed with a simple on/off switch for the backlighting function. All that said, the fingerprint reader more than makes up for the lack of backlighting in my opinion. I use mine with a 2 monitor setup connected to a MacBook and a docking station. Lots of other reviewers have mentioned the overall quality of the board, so no need to beat that horse again as I agree with that. The other important part is the physically thin form factor which is metal, very sturdy and built to last for a long time. The metai material looks great, but also allows the board to be rigid enough to be small while retaining full keyboard space. Typing on it feels incredibly smooth — the keys are quiet, responsive, and have just the right amount of travel. It’s comfortable for long typing sessions and makes everyday work feel faster and more enjoyable. The biggest upgrade is definitely Touch ID. It works flawlessly for unlocking the Mac, approving App Store purchases, and autofilling passwords. It’s fast, accurate, and so convenient that I can’t imagine going back to a keyboard without it. I learned the fingerprint reader on this keyboard is proprietary to Apple so the fingerprint reader won't work with other laptop brands. I have a Macbook Pro M3 and M4 so it's a great keyboard! It is USB C (not sure why other reviews said it was not). The fingerprint reader works like a charm. It does have the function key just like the Macbook Pros. It was cheaper on Amazon than at Apple. Woot! Worth noting is that when I was charging the keyboard with the USB C cable, my Macbook Pro didn't update the percent charge, I had to disconnect and reconnect to see the actual increase in charge, but it did charge to 100%. Not sure if that will continue to happen or if it was just the first time I charged it. ... show more

This is an amazing keyboard. I have been using variations of apple bluetooth keyboards for a number of years with my laptop and Mac mini. Now to have a full keyboard with numeric keyboard and Touch ID, this makes my connectivity and work life so much easier. I don't know why I waited so long to replace my old keyboard (which still requires a lightning cable to charge). This new model has great battery life. Works with my MacBook Pro 14" (M4) model. This keyboard, while expensive worked perfectly with my (apple silicon) M3 Macbook Pro, Fn function keys, TouchID works perfectly and is very responsive. Others who bought this keyboard and the TouchID doesn't work probably have an older model of Mac. The only complaint I have is if a key cap pops off for any reason they are very hard to get back on correctly even if they are not broken. The battery life is excellent, several months go by between charges, it charges very quickly and works perfectly while being charged. ... show more
