I didn't think "excellent condition" would come with a failed battery. The failed batter is swelling which causes internal/upward pressure on the trackpad so that doesn't respond as intended. Doesn't always click. The OS that came installed thinks I have a Touch Bar when I don't. That means most the buttons won't work on all programs. 2017 doesn't have the Touch Bar. Excellent condition should means no visible scratches... They just put a large sticker on the outside of the computer that is the same color and just covers the scratches. ... show more

The spacebar on my 2019 Macbook Air could not be repaired so I was looking at a $300-$400 repair bill to replace the entire keyboard. Instead, I purchased a refurbished MacBook Pro with double the RAM and double the memory. It works great. My Macbook Air has 8 GB of RAM but it is simply not enough so I needed an upgrade anyway. The only problem I had was that it came 6 days early when I was not home. FedEx does NOT tell you when they are coming and their phone number only gives a canned message with the inability to speak to a live person. They said they would try again and it would be delivered before 8 PM the next day. Instead, I went to their office and waited until the delivery truck returned. ... show more

    • "Service battery!" status - battery dead on arrival - Replacement is OK but dented

I ordered this as a replacement for a renewed 8MB MacBook Air I ordered from a different seller that wasn't powerful enough for my needs. While the Air was received in perfect condition and the battery worked well, this MacBook Pro was in slightly less-perfect but still excellent physical condition but the battery status was "Service battery" with an exclamation icon. The unit operated anywhere between 0 seconds and 5 minutes on battery before shutting off. I have shipped it back as a return for another and will update the review when I receive the replacement. It is hit or miss whether you will receive a unit with a working battery. They clearly do not test it when they claim it is "renewed" and "guarantee" at least 80% of original battery life. Update: Replacement Mac works well. While the screen is in excellent condition and the battery has 299 cycles on it and powers fine, the case condition is obviously in the "Acceptable" category. There is a small gouge above the F2 key visible from several feet away (small - not a problem) and 3 dents on the bottom of the case visible from way more than 12 inches. 2 of the dents are very large and visible from across the room. This Mac has been dropped several times. Given that the top of the case and screen are excellent, averaging the condition to "Good" would have been reasonable. I am happy with the replacement unit. The Retina screen, faster processor, more memory, and better speakers make it a no-brainer upgrade over the Air for the extra money. It is physically smaller than the Air also, despite the same size screen and keyboard, with less wasted space around the edges. I'm only upping it to 3 stars (from initial 1) because the seller isn't doing its job of testing and rating the units. During the return process, I realized that Amazon "Renewed" has different sellers. They do not come from Amazon. The Air was from "Certified Resellers" and was perfect. A sample of one doesn't guarantee anything, of course, so it may be hit or miss. This Pro is from "All Out Apple", and they do a really bad job of checking the battery and looking at the case when rating the unit. At least "Renewed" guarantees you a replacement for 90 days. ... show more
