The computer I ordered was a fair price, arrived on time, and was in excellent physical condition. We completed the setup and attempted to check the majority of applications and keyboard for functionality (everything seems to be working well). However, although the verbiage in the item description stated "This product will have a battery that exceeds 80% capacity relative to new.", after charging for 30 hours and reaching 100% charge, we unplugged the charging cord and immediately began playing an on-line game while starting a stopwatch and saw the battery capacity go from 100% to 50% in 11 minutes then moments later the computer powered off due to a complete loss of battery power. Trying to turn it back on manually, a notification appeared on the screen indicating the device must be plugged in due to lack of battery power. So the battery went from 100% to 0% in 11 minutes. Normal battery life for this device when new is listed as 6 hours. This means the battery has 3% of its original capacity. Unfortunately, we had to leave out of the country soon after receiving the laptop and had to take the computer with us for my son to use for school. I could not get a replacement laptop in time so I ordered a new battery for it hoping I may be offered a credit towards some of the new battery cost (not all of it). When asked, I was told that only replacements or refunds were possible. I asked that they reconsider due to our circumstances and they refused. I expected better customer service and better quality assurance and quality control before shipping out products to customers to confirm the products they sell meet/exceed advertised performance. False advertisement is not a good method to gain customer loyalty. Hard to believe that someone felt offering a $20-30 credit would not be worth it. What would they have done with the laptop after I had returned it? They would have had to replace the battery with new then reship it to another customer. What would that have cost? The system installed on it is Mac OS High Sierra and this replaces a very old MacBook (2008) with Mountain Lion installed on it which was starting to lose connectivity to websites - clock needs resetting (which it didn't - I suspect the problem was that the system was too old and therefore was not supported by Apple, Google, my bank and various others). I really appreciate the quality of MacBooks and their durability in this age we live in, when so much of what we buy are throwaway products in 2-3 years (even at the prices charged for those products). ... show more

I like that the screen is huge but the battery life on it is horrible. I have to leave the laptop plugged in so that it can stay on. I'm disappointed because I can't return it because I need it for school. I have to pay an extra $200 to replace the battery.

I bought this computer for the screen resolution because my eyes are not as good as they once were. I was not disappointed at all I can see the screen very clearly. And it operates just fine. I’m still learning a few Mac things coming from a PC but I can see that is going to be easier for me to operate. After running business computers for 30 years it’s time for me to kick back and have a little Mac fun😎 ... show more

Software was not up to date. Had to spend 2 hours with Apple support. Description says one thing and you receive something totally different. Sent an email and they never responded. Will not buy from them again.

It should be known and expected that when buying a used product online, there's always a good chance of getting unlucky so take this as a warning before you order. With my order specifically, the delivery process was sub par but I did receive it before Amazon's initial set date. As far as the Mac itself, I did receive the Mid 2012 15inch Retina Pro model (though as useless as that information may be, it seems as though some other reviewer didn't get what they were expecting). It does have a handful of dead pixels that aren't very noticeable at all unless at the all black startup screen and other than that, it does have some bumps and scratches that are nothing to bat an eye at. Overall, I got what I was expecting and was pretty satisfied with my purchase 2021 Update: It died. Seems to be a battery issue but I took it to Geek Squad only to find out it is considered an "obsolete model" meaning they cant repair it and I would have a hard time finding someone who will. The cause could've been from user neglect, but I treated it like my baby and nonetheless it is now a useless piece of metal. If you're looking for a used Mac I recommend just buying from Apple's official refurbished shop or make sure whatever model you buy isn't considered obsolete and can still be repaired if anything happens.
