Frequently asked questions

The 'Renewed' label on the MacBook Air indicates that it's a pre-owned product that has been refurbished and tested to work and look like new. It comes with a limited warranty and is typically sold at a lower price point compared to a brand-new unit.

The 13-inch MacBook Air with 4GB of RAM typically has its memory soldered to the motherboard, which means it cannot be upgraded after purchase. It's important to choose the right amount of RAM for your needs before buying.

The battery life for the 13-inch MacBook Air with a 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5 processor can vary based on usage, but it is generally rated to offer up to 12 hours of web browsing or up to 30 days of standby time.

While newer versions of macOS are often compatible with older MacBook Air models, specific features and updates may have system requirements that exceed this MacBook's specifications. It's recommended to check Apple's website for the latest macOS compatibility information for your particular model.

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviewed MacBook seems to be a great choice for budget-conscious consumers looking for a reliable laptop for work-related tasks, light design courses, and general use. Several users have praised its exceptional battery life, lightweight design, and overall functionality for non-intensive applications. However, limitations due to its older model year (2015) and hardware have been noted, as well as incompatibility with newer software applications and potential cosmetic imperfections due to the refurbishing process.

Pros

  • 👍 Fits budget constraints for MacBook needs
  • 🔋 Better-than-expected battery life for a refurbished model
  • 💼 Suitable for work-related use and light design programs
  • 🚀 Praised for its lightness and portability
  • ✅ Comes with necessary updates and ready to use

Cons

  • 🚫 Older 2015 model with hardware and OS limitations
  • 🔄 Cannot run some newer programs due to outdated system
  • 🛠️ Potential cosmetic issues from refurbishing

Should I Buy It?

If you're seeking a cost-effective MacBook for basic tasks, travel-friendly usage, or as a non-primary device, this could be a compelling option. It's not suited for those requiring the latest software or heavy-duty processing tasks. As long as you're aware of its limitations and the fact that it is refurbished, the product has been well-received by those with aligned expectations.

  • Refurbished Apple MacBook Air
Capacity: 4GB RAM - 128GB
It works well. Something to use until I can get a new Apple MacBook Air. It upgrade to a new iOS version without problems. I was able to load my MS and Adobe software. Good price for the product.

  • Good deal for the quality
Capacity: 8GB Ram - 256GB
I needed to buy a cheap MacBook for MAST testing iPhones and .ipa files for my work. This particular model fit my budget and works well. I have been traveling and using the laptop for months without any problems. I have not checked the internals, but the exterior of the Mackbook is in pristine condition. The battery life is better than expected for a refurbished laptop as well. My only complaint is that I am not able to run all of the programs that I would like due to hardware and OS limitations, but this is normal for a laptop that was produced in 2015. I plan on buying my wife a MacBook from this seller as well. She needs a machine for her design courses and the current Windows laptop she has is underpowered (with little options for upgrades) for the Adobe Suite. • Refurbish and Reuse, Conserve and Renew
Capacity: 4GB RAM - 128GB
It's an older version, yes, and it is not the most recent, but I love this. The 13-in screen is clear, and the battery life is 8 hours+. The software is more than adequate for my use. In fact, I have more apps that I use. Looking at the environmental costs of new products and the price of this refurbished laptop, this was a no-brainer. It is LIGHT. The lightest laptop I've had, and the sleek aluminum body stays cool after hours of use. I guess they fixed that heatsink/logic-board-overheating problem that was common in the first few generations. When I bought my first Mac 2GB laptop (wifi card or extra memory, optional) in San Jose, it weighed SIX pounds. Technology is wonderful. It gets lighter and cheaper. ... show more

  • Computer quickly became a nightmare
Capacity: 8GB Ram - 256GB
The media could not be loaded. Originally I really wanted to like this computer. This is my third review. They won’t allow me to post more than one. I bought a model listed as excellent condition. Let’s talk about externals first. The area surrounding the charging port was so badly bent and damaged I’d have to flip the charger several times before a connection would be successful. Both front corners were sent and damaged. I will say the top was relatively free of too many scratches but the bottom was absolutely covered in scratches. You know what? At first… I was so happy to have a MacBook I trained myself to overlook it all. That’s when the more serious issues emerged. Least serious the hinges that hold up the screen were so worn that it would slide all the way to the lowest position. Most expensive and conceding was the battery. It is so badly damaged and diminished half an hour of use drops it to 50%. I cannot have it off a charger for more than 1.5 hours before needing to be very nervous it’s going to shut off. NOW after getting approval to return the computer there’s more issues. Some glitch is making it almost impossible to factory reset. So to get my money back and return I now have to go to the Apple Store on my day off when I should be doing homework and relaxing just to get the computer ready to send back. I ordered another refurbished MacBook. Through a different company. Will not say who so this doesn’t seem like some promotion but OMG… the air I’m referring to in this post was listed as excellent condition. Poor condition would be a stretch. This new one is so amazingly new looking… I just want to stress to be over. The track pad in this air is awful. I have to restart the computer several times or it just keep scrolling and I cannot do anything. Have to out something behind the screen or it will not stay up, covered in dents and scratches bad enough to effect charging, I have to take it into an Apple Store just to get it cleared to return. I was supposed to go out of town on my day off. I tried so hard to force myself to pretend this was okay. But over a month it’s horrible quality got continuously worse. Thank god for Amazon’s smart business model and fair return policy with these third party refurbished things. They really could have lost me a lot of money for something that barely works. ... show more
