Externally, this notebook has an integrated 720p FaceTime HD webcam, a revised "third generation" butterfly mechanism keyboard with an integrated "Touch Bar" touch- sensitive control that adapts for different applications and provides Touch ID login support in lieu of traditional function keys, and a gigantic "Force Touch" trackpad. Additionally, it has a high-resolution LED-backlit 15.4" widescreen 2880x1800 (220 ppi, 500 nits) "Retina" display with True Tone technology, and a integrated battery that provides an Apple estimated 10 hours of runtime.

This laptop reaffirms my firm belief in a particular principal: “Never, ever purchase brand new technology”. About two years ago I purchased a brand new MacBook for my wife that has less horsepower than this thing for about 3x what this laptop cost. I do a lot of video editing, and was getting particularly frustrated with the rendering times, and the fact that I couldn’t render certain effects due to not having a GPU on my old laptop. I have not had one issue with this thing in that regard. My only gripe is that out of the box, new MacBooks, only come with USB – C ports, however with a $12 port adapter, that issue was resolved. ... show more

I generally do not want to leave a review. This unit’s battery failed after 2-3 months. I contact amazon and was told to contact the seller to return. It was a hassle so i decided to have the battery replaced at a shop. A few months later, the unit keeps shutting down due to its high temperature. Since it passed its return date and I have no recourse on this. I must post a review so that people can avoid the issues that i am facing. It is not cheap, it is nearly $1,400. (New Update: brought it to Apple and got a diagnosis and found out the RAM failed, and since it is soldered to the board, it would cost nearly $900 to replace them). So I ended up by a new unit. I love this laptop. Considering I bought it just to replace the same model, save for this one having double the RAM and storage, I already knew what to expect. What I didn't expect was 135 charge cycles dropping the battery life span to 70%! Additionally, the power adapter, while legit Apple, the plug that slides on is not and does not work. I thought I had a bad power adapter, but it turned out to be the slip-on plug that allows you to convert the power brick to a direct wall plug-in instead of a cord. I plugged in my cord, and all works, so I'd like to get the plug part replaced. Not a huge deal. Being this and the 16" version are the last Intel MacBook Pro's, it was well worth the money. I'm sure the M1 and higher are fantastic, but I have needs right now to boot into both Linux and Windows natively, so I'm tremendously happy with this. There were literally NO signs this laptop was ever looked at, let alone used. The keys look brand new with no shiny spots, and not a scratch on the aluminum or the plastic of the power brick.
