Frequently asked questions

The 'Renewed' label indicates that the MacBook Air has been professionally inspected and tested by Amazon-qualified suppliers. This involves full functionality testing, cosmetic inspection, and repackaging. Renewed products aren't brand new, but they've been brought back to full working condition, carrying minimal to no signs of wear.

The 1.8GHz Core i5 processor in this MacBook Air model is a dual-core processor from Intel. This processor is capable of balancing power and performance well. It’s powerful enough to multitask and run demanding applications but also efficient enough to save battery life.

This MacBook Air version comes with 256GB SSD (Solid State Drive). SSDs are much faster than the traditional HDDs, thus enhancing the overall performance. 256GB provides a decent amount of storage for work files, music, movies, and even some games.

8GB RAM in this MacBook Air is plenty for most common tasks like web browsing, working on documents, and even light multimedia editing. If you're into intensive tasks like heavy video editing or 3D modelling, you might want to consider a system with more RAM.

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

Overall, the renewed MacBook Air has been generally well-received by purchasers, who are impressed with the laptop's performance and price considering the product is renewed. However, there are occasional minor problems such as screen issues, missing apps and battery life warnings. Yet, these issues surprisingly didn't hamper their positive overall experience with the product as they were expected due to its renewed status.

Pros

  • 🚀 Fast and easy to use
  • 💰 Affordable compared to brand new
  • 🔋 Decent battery life
  • 💼 Lightweight and sleek design
  • 🔌 Good connectivity options (WiFi and Bluetooth)

Cons

  • 🔧 Sometimes comes with minor defects such as scratches, dents, or loose hinges
  • ⚠️ Sometimes displays a battery service warning
  • 🔄 Some software updates or application installations may be required
  • 🖱️ Mouse can sometimes act glitchy

Should I Buy It?

Yes, if you're looking for a more affordable Macbook and are okay with minor cosmetic issues or making a few software adjustments, this renewed MacBook Air seems to offer good value. While there are a few reported software and hardware quirks, most users seem to find it quick, easy to use, and efficient in performance.

  • Very good customer service
I would definitely buy again from Certified Resellers; they respond quickly and my order arrived on time and well-wrapped. The refurbished MacBook Air I purchased looked new and the software worked perfectly. I had to return the unit for a different reason, but not because of any software or functioning issues, and the seller was very accommodating and issued my refund very quickly. They are trustworthy and don’t misrepresent their products. ... show more

  • Small defect, but very impressed!!!! :)
The media could not be loaded. I’ve always wanted a Mac Book and finally convinced myself to buy one. I read the reviews of this seller and they had the best ratings out of all the others I’ve seen. I received the laptop fairly quickly and it was packaged awesome. Only problem is there is a dent by the charging port. But it still charges so it’s not that big of a deal to me. It is a renewed laptop so I was expecting something. Overall I’m impressed with it. It’s fast and does everything it’s suppose to do :) It connects to my WiFi, Bluetooth and syncs to my iPhone. The graphics and resolution look great! And I love how sleek and thin it is!!!! So happy with this purchase. I only gave 4 stars because of the small dent, but overall I would highly recommend! ... show more

  • Good (for the price), but lots of annoying little things
Bought this as a quick replacement for school when my old laptop crashed. It does the job, but there were several annoying things. 1. It was BARE BONES. Apple laptops usually come with several apps, and some were missing. 2. When I downloaded one of the missing apps (GarageBand), it did not work with my basic audio equipment (Focusrite Scarlett Audio Interface). The microphone wouldn't pick anything up. So whoever prepared this laptop totally screwed it up. 3. The mouse acts buggy. I'm a writer and a student. I am always editing drafts of papers/stories. But often, when I click on a specific word or segment of my writing, the cursor will appear there, and I will begin to type — only to find out that the cursor has jumped to a totally different segment of the page. This happens ALL THE TIME. 4. This is a minor gripe, but someone suggested I check the "About this Mac" section on my laptop and it does seem that the seller might be advertising one type of Macbook air while selling a totally different one. I was a little shocked by this. Now, at this price, I didn't expect much, so I wont give this a two star review (which is what I think it deserves). But I won't be buying from this seller again. If you won't use anything but a Macbook but you're limited on funds, the laptop HAS worked. It does its job (battery life is fine). It is just a very glitchy laptop. ... show more

  • Disappointing quality control of renewed/certified refurbished laptop
I have had a number of Mac laptops in the past, primarily through work, including 4 MacBook Airs. I really like the form factor. I was looking for an older model MacBook Air with decent memory that had the SD memory card slot. This is the first time that I have purchased a used Mac laptop, but I know they hold up well, and thus went for one advertised to be in a condition that I wouldn't have to invest time/money fixing. The "certified refurbished" 13-inch MacBook Air that I purchased from Device Refresh through Amazon was advertised to be in Excellent Condition with a battery that exceeds 80% of capacity. I think Amazon is holding its sellers to this standard so customers know what to expect. I was pleased when the laptop arrived several days before the initial estimate. When I unboxed the laptop, my overall impression was that the body was clean. There were minor dings and scratches, but I can live these. The ports had a moderate level grim, but were easily cleaned. The keyboard, importantly, is in excellent condition. No missing keys, and when I used the laptop, no stuck keys - all functioned as expected - as did the trackpad. However, there were two issues that I noticed straightaway. First, the screen hinge is loose. This is a well used laptop. This problem can be remedied. Second, there is a very light, nearly two inch cut on the lower left of the screen. Hard to see in the photo that I attached as the hair thin cut is almost under the resolution of the cell phone shot, but easy to see in person. I can ignore this when typing documents or reading webpages, but the laptop shouldn't have been graded to be in excellent condition with the screen cut. More of a disappointment is the laptop battery. As soon as I was charging the laptop, I checked the battery indicator to see where it was at, and I saw a warning that it recommended the battery be serviced. Indeed after charging to 100%, I have tested the laptop twice, and with light to moderate use, the battery is lasting a little over 3 hours. A new battery for this model is advertised to last over 10 hours. With the current laptop, as soon as the battery indicator goes down to approximately 20%, the computer shuts off as the battery has died. I don't know how this problem would have been missed during a certification process, especially as the laptop's battery monitor says that there is a problem. I will take the laptop to a local Apple store to get the battery replaced and screen hinge tightened, but this is extra time and expense that I didn't anticipate when purchasing something advertised to be in excellent condition and having gone through a certification process. With online purchases, we depend on the accuracy of the product description. In this case, the quality control process failed or wasn't in place. Caveat emptor. ... show more
