I am an 84 yo male, who had my right leg amputated, above the knee, in July 2023. Since then, my Health insurance provided a rather simple wheelchair which has helped me with the first stages of coping with only a single leg. My wife has done ALL the driving, but has struggled with loading the heavy chair into our SUV. As we have always loved to travel, especially on cruises, we both knew that I needed to purchase an electrically powered chair that can be taken on aircraft and cruises, to be used both on ship and on shore excursions which could be quite long. Selecting what to buy became rather difficult when searching for one that could be easily loaded into the car, as almost all electric wheelchairs are so very heavy. Then, after much searching, I came across the new, carbon fibre chair by Aotedor, available from Amazon. Furthermore, it was priced aggressively at just under $2,000. I ordered one as soon as I saw its technical details, which included a weight of just 35lbs and a range of 25 miles. The chair arrived at my home in Lincoln CA, a few days later, one day before the predicted delivery date. I am a lifelong "techie", competent with both electronic and mechanical engineering, so was very keen to look in the box! My first impression was that it was extremely well packed. After removing the fully-assembled unit from the box, I started noticing its design features, which are also very good indeed. It is definitely a "minimalist" design, using carefully selected materials for every component part - with Carbon Fibre being used wherever practical. Strength and rigidity seem to have **NOT** been sacrificed for weight. It came with two Lithium batteries (one is installed in the chair while the second is a spare) giving a claimed range of 25 miles, and a weight of just 35lbs. Batteries are easily interchanged and the "spare" can be charged while not installed. I should note that the engineering of the Aotedor chair shows excellent attention to detail. For example, where components of the frame are bolted together, there are no sharp ends of excessively long bolts used (unlike the rented chair). Thus far, I have only used the chair within our home, but have plans to use it on some of our 26 miles of community trails this weekend, with my wife and our dog walking alongside. I have high hopes that it will fulfil my expectations. ========= After 2+ weeks using this chair: I really like this chair although do have one wish for improvement! The chair is lightweight, so my wife (almost 80yo, with serious arthritis in her hands+wrists) is able to load it easily into our SUV. Although I have not actually used it on grass, I anticipate a challenge with traction, as the driven wheels have very little tread. It works very well around the home, but I do wish that the torque was a bit greater when driven in reverse. It can be troublesome on deep carpet, although driving forwards is problem free. I am very impressed by the rigidity and strength of the chair's construction. It is as strong as, but FAR lighter than, my manual chair that is constructed mostly from steel tubing. FYI, I weigh about 132lbs (after one leg was amputated above the knee). Altogether, I am exceedingly happy with the Aotedor 35lb foldable chair and wholeheartedly recommend it. Lightweight chair, very easy to fold. The seat is comfortable. The motors are quiet even on high speeds. You almost never need max speed, half speed is good enough for outdoors and lowest speed is great for indoors. The maneuverability is the not the best, there is some input lag with the controller and it's overly sensitive at low speeds. The chassis is strong yet very light and as easy to put in my car as a baby stroller. I will update my review once we try to fly it overseas to test if it truly is airplane friendly. ... show more

I was looking for a light foldable wheelchair for travel, and decided to try the Aotedor. I did not want a scooter, because I wanted to be able to sit at a table comfortably. I practiced flying with the chair on a trip to Chicago from DFW. I registered the chair with the airline I was travelling with and got a mobility device number. It worked well; the speed levels allowed me to comfortabaly stay with the pace of my husband. We decided to add some extra strength velcro straps to use when gate checking the chair to keep it tightly folded. Then - the real test! I used it on a trip to Switzerland and France with a friend. It worked well! I could easily get on trains, planes, and cars, and it survived the medieval cobblestones and inclines. The battery (which you can only take one of the two Aotedor provides, max of 300 w, on the plane) easily lasted all day. Other travellers and airline workers asked me about the chair because of the maneuverability and lightweight nature. My friend had to help me fold and unfold it, as well as reattach the battery after flying, but the rest of the time I was independent! ... show more

My wife has been wanting a lightweight wheelchair to replace her heavy scooter for some time. This one looked perfect and I liked the reviews. She said It is a very nice, comfortable wheelchair and the weight was so helpful. However, after a number of practice sessions she realized she could not master the joystick. It is just too sensitive. Also, I don’t know if we have the worst sidewalks in California, even though we live in a lovely neighborhood, but the chair didn’t handle the spaces between the cement well enough. It started to flip her out of it, but I was there to catch it. I give 5 stars and more if I could, to the company. Excellent, timely communication and excellent customer service. If you can manage the joy stick and don’t have big gaps in the sidewalk, you will love this wheelchair. ... show more

I love this chair! It is made from carbon fiber, and very very light. I can easily lift it up and put it in the trunk of my car. The carbon fiber material feels nice and it is sturdy.

The joystick controller does not work well on this chair. This the 2nd electric chair I have. I bought this one because it is lighter. Nevertheless, this issue with the controller is a major issue. If it cannot be fixed, I’m going to have to return it.

I have bought several wheelchairs. This was the worst. Expensive and terrible design. Uncomfortable bar across. Would only work for very little people and has no handles to be pushed in case your battery runs out or you get too tired too steer yourself and the company charges for returns!!! A lot!!!
