I bought this to go over a light FILTERING shade after I discovered that it was a little too easy for people outside to see into the room at night. The Pros: 1- This has a seperate metal frame that holds the shade. You mount brackets that hold the frame, not that hold the shade itself. This is easy to do and sturdier than cheaper alternatives I've tried. 2- The edge protector of the end you pull down is metal, not plastic. 3- The spring that winds up the shade is relatively weak, so while you have to sort of lift it to get it to retract, it will NOT snap back at high speed. 4- As the picture shows it really does block all light. The Cons: Just one: the price. This shade is 2-3 times more pricey than those I've bought at local stores. I tried others though, and this one is what lasted. Sometimes you do get what you pay for. The first blind we put up was a little tricky and we had to take it down and remeasure because of a gap noticed after install. These are strong and well made and we had no other difficulty with these blinds. I highly recommend because of quality and ease of installation.
