  • Impressive Out of the Box Performance for an Active Teen 4.5 stars
Size: 10 Color: Black
I purchased these hiking boots for my very active 15 year old and he has already put them through their paces in some genuinely challenging conditions. Here are his thoughts summarized from firsthand experience. First and most impressively, he wore them straight out of the box without any break in period whatsoever and had zero issues; no blisters, no hot spots, and no discomfort even on rocky and sandy terrain. That alone is a remarkable quality for a hiking boot. They performed great in sand specifically, handling the shifting and uneven surface with confidence and solid grip. The fit is snug when getting them on, which he actually appreciated as it translates to great ankle support and stability on uneven trails; something that matters a lot when navigating rocky ground. Temperature regulation also held up well across a significant range; he wore them through freezing cold nights and hot daytime temperatures during a camping trip and they managed both ends of the spectrum without complaint. He will be continuing to wear them through the summer and fall camping seasons and we will update if anything changes, but based on everything so far these have been an outstanding purchase. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Run large
Size: 7 Color: Black
I ordered these in the size that should be concurrent with my size in women’s, but they were too big. I expected them to be a little roomy, but they’re like the grand canyon in there and flop around on my feet. Figured it was just a sizing mistake on my part, but I gave them to a guy who is a size larger than me and he said they were also too wide for him, so it seems that they just run big. Aside from that, they’re decent! They look nice and felt comfortable when standing. Had good cushioning although not much arch support. They’re lightweight and had good grip. The laces were a good length and didn’t have issues with untying themselves. Obviously I couldn’t wear them for an actual hike, so I can’t comment on how the material holds up to abrasions or how secure the grommets or lace hooks are. ... show more

  • Very comfortable
Size: 11 Color: Black
I grabbed these for my husband because his old boots were finally falling apart, and I was tired of him wearing worn-out sneakers on muddy soccer fields and little weekend hikes with the kids. He’s not picky about looks, but he does complain if something rubs or feels “cheap,” so I was hoping these would be a simple, no-fuss replacement. So far, they’ve been great for normal life stuff—walking the dog on uneven paths, stomping around wet grass at the park, and one short rocky trail where he usually slips a bit. The tread has noticeably better grip than his old pair, and the ankle height helps him feel more stable without making his feet feel trapped. They also clean up easily, which matters in our house because everything ends up with dirt on it. The only downside is they felt a little stiff right out of the box, especially around the top, so I’d plan on wearing them around the house for a day or two before a longer walk. After that, he stopped mentioning them, which is honestly the best sign. For the price, they’ve been worth the value for us. If you want something sturdy for casual hiking and everyday outdoor errands (not anything fancy), these have held up well and feel like a good buy. ... show more

  • run big, non-traditional, probably for casual hikers that need a good tread
Size: 10 Color: Black
These have a pretty aggressive tread, which was one of the first things I noticed. They definitely look like serious hiking boots, like, super clunky. It almost seemed costume-like. They’re comfortable on the interior right away and don’t really require a break-in period. That said, part of the reason they’re easy out of the box is because they’re not built like super stiff, traditional hiking boots. They feel lighter and more flexible, which is nice at first, but also makes me question how they’ll hold up long term if you’re doing heavy, frequent hiking. If you’re more of an occasional day hiker or just want something for light trails, these make more sense. One thing to be aware of is the width. These run wide. If you have narrow feet, you might struggle to get a secure fit. Even sizing down may not fully fix that. For wider feet, though, that extra room could actually be a plus. They feel good on foot and the cushioning is decent, but I wouldn’t call them super supportive. There’s not a ton of arch support, they’re comfortable, just not in that rigid, structured way you get from higher-end boots. And part of the reason stiff boots last forever is because of that structure, even if the break-in is rough. Overall, these seem like a solid budget-friendly option casual hikes or occasional use, especially if you prefer a lighter boot and have a wider foot. Just probably not something I’d rely on for heavy backpacking season after season. But also, they're so dense/thick, it implies you'd be doing something really serious in them and you would actually want a well made boot for that. ... show more

  • Good looking and light boots but run big
Size: 13 Color: Black
Good looking black boots. These are really light which is pleasantly nice as compared to most boots like this. It has a good aggressive tread and the laces are actually not too long or too short. They are very comfortable as well. The only negative is that they run big. I wear a 13 and ordered the largest size they had which was a 12 1/2. I’d estimate the size as more like a 13 wide. I’ll need to wear thick socks with these wear comfortably and not walk out of them. They also have a chemical type smell right out of the plastic wrap so sit outside a bit to get rid of the smell.
