13.8 gallons wasn't exactly what I thought it would be, but not at the fault of the company, but for the price of this stuff, I can't justify it in comparison to regular soil. I used the Coco coir as a replacement to peat moss for sustainability reasons, but size to cost, again, big price difference between the Coco coir and peat moss. I would buy this product again, but would be looking for a lower price point. I soaked each brick in 2X the amount of water for an hour. Easily broke up, but lots of long fibers. ... show more

It was fun mixing the water and brick. It is more expensive to do this than buy a bag of organic soil though it is good quality stuff.

My son and I wetted and expanded this stuff. Excellent for outside planters, just mix with a big bag of potting soil. Had a ton of fun breaking it apart with our hands.
