  • Seems to help to some extent.
Have only recently set up and used this. It has not resolved all of our rodent issues, but it does appear to be helping curtail the problems at least to some extent. More time is needed to tell for sure. The first one of these devices I received was listed as "used" and does have some odd function issues: there is a kind of constant high pitched faintly audible whine in the 2nd mode, almost like a chirping cricket sound, which can be heard by humans. It took me awhile to narrow it down, and it is connected to the volume level. It gets a little confusing between the different choices. I have since ordered an additional "new" unit of the same which seems to be working as promised, although oddly enough, the first one with the audible but irritating to humans sounds seems to be frightening to rats. Maybe it's based on placement. The scientific community doesn't really believe that any of these devices actually work; however, I'm finding user evidence that it does to some extent. Maybe not a miracle, but at this point we are desperate enough to try anything. Time will tell, and I will try to follow up with updates to this review.... I wanted to add, that in retrospect there are some things about the company's ways of doing business which are disturbing to me. I'm still not sure about the device itself, if it really works well or not. But here's the thing about the company: there's a card included with the device in the box. The card offers a selection of gifts if you register your purchase within 7 days of receiving it. I went to the website to complete this task. On site, it states that there is a two year warranty as well. The problem is that there is no way of registering for the warranty and for choosing a free gift without first submitting a product review here on Amazon for the purchased product. You must link the review back to them. They want the proof. The more I've thought about the issue, the more it seems like bribery and bias. I mean, it's hard to write a very negative review if someone is giving you something nice in return. I wrote the review above with a 4 star rating without being entirely sure how long or well the device will work in the long run. I am hopeful about it, and there do seem to be some positive effects. But in order to be more certain, I certainly need more time than 7 days to decide. Again, the registration requires the purchaser to complete the application within 7 days, so there's a need to hurry pressure placed upon the buyer. The other thing is that when I went to submit the registration with the company (after already submitting the review above on Amazon), the submission wouldn't go through. It kept giving me some technical nonsense in a pop up block, that I couldn't understand. I tried to take a screen shot of it, but failed. I began to wonder if it was engineered that way? Maybe the action cannot be completed without submission of a 5 star review, or cannot be completed at all regardless of the score because they do not really want to send the free gift or establish a warranty. Perhaps I'm just being paranoid here. I did contact the company following this failure, and they told me it was probably a web issue and that they will send me the free gift. We'll see if they follow through. But even without the submission issues, it bothers me that the reviews on this product may be bias based because of the promised freebies that rely on the need to review at all. Although there is nothing expressly stated that the review must be a good one to qualify, I think there is an inherent link between gifting and gratitude influencing one's words. Since this process comes at the back end of the purchase, it may fail to be clearly stated in many of the 5 star reviews. It leaves them in question regarding their independence and integrity. I do not mean to suggest that the reviewers are doing anything wrong, but that there is an influence and expectation placed upon them that might not be fair. I think that maybe Amazon should take a look at the way this company is doing business. It's one thing for a company to give a free product to someone up front who will later review with a clear statement of receiving it as a gift. Then as a reader you know not to fully trust that review. It's a little different, a little trickier, if the freebie is received following the purchase and never revealed. It seems like a sneaky business practice. It might not make the product itself bad, but it doesn't quite sit right with me. ... show more

  • Ease of use
To repel critter in my wall, I bought two. I placed one in the attic (removed an insulation and placed it on a solid surface near an exposed wall so the sound can travel). I placed the other in my basement. This was just last night - about 12 hours ago. I was hearing the auditory sound throughout the night and the animals appeared to be confused. I noticed a difference in their activities perhaps they seemed disoriented. It's hard to tell the overall effect for now. I think it might take days if not even weeks to see positive effect. I may likely buy more as it appears as animal infestation. I have called a couple of pro but none of them was able to find the entry/exit point(s) for the animal. Traps that were set up caught nothing, so I desperately need something else that would do the job. I have bought different repellants - granules and spray along with DIY, which I used in the attic. The repellants appear to drive them away from the attic. I set up camera in the attic but they seem not to come over to the attic anymore as they are never seen on camera. I thought my last resort is to use ultrasonic repeller. This product functions as advertised and very easy to install (that's why I gave a 4 stars for now). I hope this works! I'll come back on this review whatever the result, which might impact my first rating here. Please, stay tuned. ... show more

  • Completely and totally recommend
We live in the country, so mice are 1000% unavoidable. We have five cats and a dog, so we don't want to use any kind of poison or dangerous chemical deterrent as our cats have gotten ahold of some mice and chomped down. If the mice are poisoned and the cat(s) eat them, it would be too late for vet care before we realized what happened. We take all the preventative steps we can like not leaving any pet or people food out, putting out pet safe mice deterrent, etc. There are baited snap traps all over the place, but mice still sneak into the house. Our pest guy said that without poison baiting, it's a constant battle since mice can get into a house through the tiniest openings. And having a house in a place where the mice have significant natural predators is a spot mice will seek out for safety. We live across from a nature preserve with several species of predators such as eagles, hawks, coyotes, foxes, and such. Before ordering, we had no idea if these would work or not. Based on research done with online reviews, pest control blogs, and several animal websites, it's a toss-up as to whether or not electronic pest control works. These plug-in model and a couple other battery powered electronic gadgets like this have been installed and working 24/7 throughout our house for five or six weeks now. Since these came into action, the number of mice seen has gone from one (or worse, two) a week to ZERO. None in the traps, none caught by our cats and used as toys or grosser yet brought to us in the middle of the night as a present. The ONLY thing that has changed in our battle is the addition of these electronic repellers. Our cats may not be happy at the reduction in play toys, but we're not and neither is our pest control guy. When we set these up, he wasn't able to tell us if they'd work or not, but even he is impressed that after using these, we can't deny that there has been a major reduction in mice. Even though it's freezing outside and mice usually head inside to seek shelter from the weather, this winter is nothing like winter last year (2019-2020) where we had to double our efforts against the stupid mice. As for these units, they are easy to operate. Basically plug them in, select a setting, and you're all set. We have these in/around our bedrooms, so we don't use the strobe light option, only the sonic setting. Our pets aren't bothered by the lights or the range of frequency noises put out through the speakers. The units are small enough to be put almost anywhere within three feet of an outlet, and they are pretty unobtrusive. There is a little green light that blinks and lets you know that it's on and working, but it's not something that will keep anyone awake. Even in a dark hallway it's barely noticeable. As far our experience goes, these have been a massive help in our fight against Mickey and Minnie trying to couch surf rent free in our house. We aren't going to dispense with the traps and such, and if anything will add more of these electronic repellers to our arsenal for the spring critter migration. ... show more
