  • Great scope--with a bit of a bug in the software.
Style: AD266S-7"+ Metal Biological Stand
So far, I'm very pleased with this microscope. Trivially easy to set up, easy to use, great feature set, great resolution. A minor drawback is that the video update rate over USB is slow, at least with my hardware, and it's tricky to focus when using high magnification (e.g., when using the "M" lens). A much more serious, though avoidable and correctable, problem is that if you change the file names of images saved on the microsd card, it appears to completely lock up the microscope's operating system. Images saved on the microsd card use date stamps as the basis of their file names, like 2024-0414***-01.JPG. Experimenting, I saved a few images, moved the microsd card to my computer, and renamed the files to something more meaningful to me. But when I moved the microsd back to the microscope and powered it on, the display showed whatever was on the scope stage, but pressing any button on either the remote or the display just made the scope freeze. The only fix was to power the scope off. Moving the microsd card back to the computer and erasing the images made the problem go away. This could, and should, be fixed in the software by the manufacturer. UPDATE REGARDING THE FILENAME ISSUE The manufacturer tells me they'll look into this. They didn't say whether it's a bug just with my scope or is a bug in their coding that affects all of their scopes. ... show more

  • AMAZING!
Style: AD266S-7"+ Metal Biological Stand
The media could not be loaded. You cannot go wrong with this scope. I am casually interested in home/science use and I still cannot believe this much tech can be had for this price. The different lenses are overwhelming at first but very intuitive to use once you start using the scope. It's great to have these options. The metal base is sturdy as is the stage (tray) with adjustments and I am happy I got this model. Five professionally prepared slides are included which allowed me to unbox and immediately start getting used to lenses and controls. The file outputs to storage are MP4 (no strange encodes, my Win11 machine reads them fine) and JPG. The included 32GB card is plenty for scope > device transfer. The remote seemed like a luxury when I bought this but now realize it is a must have. The remote keeps the scope still for taking pics and vids where attempting to use the screen buttons does shake the image a bit. Some people have noted you have to switch the power supply for top vs bottom (condenser) illumination. I don't think this is an issue since those changes would typically involve a lens swap which means you are reconfiguring the scope anyway. Some other very minor considerations which, for the price, I'm not complaining just noting. 1. There is no fine focus. Does take a steady hand with the B and C lenses and more so with the M lens. Practice and steadying the hand helps. There is a nice smooth feel and the gears are well greased. 2. The photos have interpolation artifacts (fuzzies) which is to be expected on a digital scope. Settings don't seem to resolve so I stick to native resolutions with default sharpness. I have worked around this with short vids instead (example included). For that reason, I am happy I did not upgrade to the 10" screen. Think of the digital zoom more as framing than zooming. 3. The micro SD card slot is difficult to reach for card removal. I use a pair of metal tweezers to help. ... show more

  • So far so good but I did receive a returned item.
Style: AD266S-7"+ Metal Biological Stand
Seems to be a nice unit. The box showed signed of it being returned item so I was a bit disappointed as I purchased a new unit. Everything seems to be there but you can tell someone had the unit out and put back into the box. It does a good job magnifying but if there is any movement on the surface the unit is on the vision on the screen shakes, a lot! The unit is made with a mix of metal and plastic so there are some areas I wonder how durable they are but for what I purchased it for it will do. I’ll know more as I use it. ... show more

  • Professional grade microscope for the at-home biologist
Style: AD266S-7"+ Metal Biological Stand
I worked in a laboratory for many years while in graduate school on some of the most expensive microscopes that costed thousands of dollars. This microscope quality for the price, is outstanding. I bought this microscope for an at-home photography project involving my mineral collection and this microscope has given me a new appreciation for the pieces that I already own. This microscope has been a valuable investment that allows me to enjoy my hobby at home, while providing high quality images, with sharp detail. The photographs are full of detail and the colors are sharp. In addition to the photo feature, this microscope also allows for the capture of HD video that impresses with its quality. If you are looking for a gift for a budding scientist, this would be an excellent purchase! ... show more
