Description

The AmScope SM-1BSX-64S professional stereo zoom microscope has a pair of 10x super-widefield high eyepoint eyepieces, a 0.7x-4.5x zoom objective, a 0.5x Barlow lens, and a pillar stand. The microscope has an overall magnification range of 3.5x-45x. The binocular viewing head has an interpupillary range of 55 to 75mm, a 45-degree inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation to enable sharing. The WH10x20mm super-widefield high- eyepoint eyepieces combine with the 0.7x-4.5x zoom objective to provide 7x-45x continuous zoom magnification and a longer working distance for inspecting large-scale specimens that require handling or repair. High-eyepoint objectives ease viewing for users who wear glasses, and dioptric adjustment accommodates individual eye-strength differences. The microscope includes a 0.5x Barlow lens that can be added to the objective to decrease the magnification to 3.5x-22.5x. A Barlow lens with a magnification of less than 1.0 reduces magnification and increases the working distance. A stereo microscope, sometimes called an inspection or dissection microscope, has low magnification and a long working distance that enables users to manipulate the object being inspected. The removable 64-bulb LED ring light provides bright, cool light for working with temperature-sensitive or live specimens. The ring light provides shadow-free illumination, and a rheostat controls the amount of light emanating from the lamp. Power and adjustment controls are located on the light head. The light uses a 110V-240V variable power supply. The table stand has a reversible black and white stage plate that provides contrast with light- and dark-colored specimens, and stage clips to secure the specimen in place. The stage plate has a 3-3/4" diameter (95mm). The stand is 10 x 7-7/8 x 10-3/4 inches/254 x 200 x 275mm (H x W x D, where H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back).SpecificationsHeadBinocularMagnification range7x-45x, continuous zoom; 3.5x-22.5x with Barlow lensZoom objective power 0.7x-4.5xEyepieces (DIN, 30mm)WH10x20mm high-eyepointZoom range6.5:1Field of view range3/16 to 1-1/4"Optical working distance8"Microscope standPillarHead movementX- axisIllumination typeEpiscopic (reflected)Light source64-bulb led ring light with rheostatPower110V-240V Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.United Scope manufactures microscopy equipment and accessories under the brand name AmScope. • Great scope!!
Impressive piece of equipment. Smooth operation. Nice wide field eyepieces with high eye point for those wearing glasses. The 0.5 aux lense is perfect to give you wider field of view and higher working distance for SMT work. And the LED ring light is incredibly bright. I have spent over a thousand dollars in the past just for a fiber optic ring light and this LED seems superior since the bulbs should last much longer than the bulbs used in the old FO illuminations. Ring lights are nice because you always get great illumination with no fuss or adjustments. You can go right to soldering. ... show more

  • Amazingly great stereo scopes for the price point.
This is my 3rd Amascope stereo microscope. I use mine every day. I've also used Nikons that cost 10x the price and have wider field of view and barely noticeable higher optical quality, but for the price you can not beat the Amascopes. Do note that you can see and understand all the possible combinations of bodies, lenses, and illumination options on the Amascope website and then come back and order the closest thing to what you need on Amazon. Also note that I do not think that any microscope-specific camera is worth it. They are expensive and do not give as good results as just carefully holding a cellphone camera up to the eyepiece. You can also buy or 3D-print a jig to hold the cellphone. I have one of these jigs, but I never use mine because it is not worth the extra hassle. The attached photo was taken this way at about 50% zoom on the microscope. ... show more

  • Magnifies well, but no instructions on how to use.
The binoc scope works well once you learn how to use it. It is a bit difficult to arrange the eyepieces so you see one image. Focusing is a bit tricky. Depth of field is good. I am not disappointed for the money that was spent. A lab quality one would cost much more.

  • Got about 4 years out of it
It's been a good scope. I got about 4 years out of it and now the bearings are falling out of the vertical adjustment. At first didn't know where these steel balls were coming from. Now its about ready to fall off the stand and I see more dropping out of there. The mechanical parts should really fall apart like this so a bit disappointed I need to buy another one. ... show more

  • Good value for the money
Good scope for the money, only issue I had was the light ring adapter threads stripped out but I made one out of aluminum that works great. The original adapter was plastic.

  • Slightly flimsier than a more expensive scope, but has smooth focus and a clear image. What more could you want?
I was worried that the build quality of this scope would be lacking compared to the still-pretty-cheap Celestron I use all the time at work. But I was pleasantly surprised. For SMT electronics work it's perfect. I'm 100% happy with it. It's lighter weight than even the Celestron, but the focus mechanism is nice and smooth and the image is clear. What more could you ask for from a scope in this price range? ... show more

  • can't even assemble
I've bought these before and while they were fidgety to assemble, they worked well and I liked the ring light. Now we've bought another one and the cover over the lenses, doesn't come off. It may be glued on, since we found glue drops on the lenses themselves. Now we'll have to return it, but a co-worker has already thrown out the packaging. A mess ... ... show more

  • For the price this is an amazing stereo microscope
For the price this is an amazing stereo microscope. I grew up using a Zeiss stereo microscope that my Dad owned; and now that I want one for myself I can't afford the 10K price tag. However, this AmScope gives me everything I want. I still can't believe it's so cheap. My family and I have had tons of fun looking at flowers and insects. Totally amazing - and the 3D effect of the stereo optics makes all the difference in the world. Thank you! ... show more
