Description

The AmScope SW-3T24Z trinocular stereo microscope head has a 2x/4x objective, a pair of 10x20mm widefield high-eyepoint eyepieces, a 2.0x Barlow lens, and a single-arm boom stand. The microscope head has a 3" O-ring style mounting ring. The trinocular viewing head has an interpupillary range of 47 to 75mm, a 45-degree inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation to enable sharing. The vertical trinocular port can be used as a C-Mount or 23mm photo port (camera sold separately). The WF10x20mm super-widefield high- eyepoint eyepieces combine with the 2x/4x objective to provide 20x, 40x, and 80x magnification, and a longer working distance for inspecting large-scale specimens that require handling or repair. The microscope includes a 2.0x Barlow lens that can be added to the objective to increase the magnification range. A Barlow lens with a magnification greater than 1.0 increases the magnification and reduces the working distance. High-eyepoint eyepieces ease viewing for users who wear glasses, dioptric adjustment accommodates individual eye-strength differences, and eye guards ensure comfortable viewing. The optical glass lenses provide sharp images, and are fully-coated to ensure high-resolution images. A stereo microscope, sometimes called an inspection or dissection microscope, has low magnification and a long working distance that enables users to manipulate the object being inspected. Ambient lighting illuminates the specimen, eliminating the need for power or batteries. The microscope has a 17" pillar that has an 8" vertical working distance. The 16" single-arm boom has a 24" overall length. Bilateral focus eases use for left- and right-handed users. The microscope head can be rotated on the X- and Y-axis. The solid cast-steel base is 1-3/4 x 9 x 9 inches (H x W x D, where H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back).SpecificationsHeadTrinocularMagnification20x, 40x, 80xObjective power 2x/4xEyepieces (30mm)WH10x20mmTrinocular portC-Mount or 23mmOptical working distanceUp to 4"Field of view0.787" at 10xMicroscope standSingle-arm boom standHead movementX- and Y-axesIllumination typeN/ALight sourceAmbientPowerN/A Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.United Scope manufactures microscopy equipment and accessories under the brand name AmScope. • Pretty darn good.
Alright, lets get this out of the way first. If you are going to judge this against a Mantis or a Zeiss or a Bausch & Lomb you will be dissapointed. Its none of those. If you are in electronics testing and repair or even hobby work and want a well built value priced NON TOY stereo scope then you looking at the right item. I find this to be a very good bench asset in doing fine repair and assembly work. You will though need some accessories to make this work well. 1. AmScope SM05 0.5X Barlow Lens For SM Series Stereo Microscopes (48mm) You will definitely need the Barlow lens to increase your field of view for working on a circuit. Its a must have. 2. Ring light. You may get suggested another ring light but dont follow that like. You will see lots of complaints about its construction. You need the LED-56S-ZK 56 from Amscope. AmScope LED-56S-ZK 56 Microscope Ring Light LED Ring Light Illuminator with Dimmer for Stereo Microscope Well constructed, powercord doesnt get in the way and the mounting screws go thru brass PEM nuts. Much better than the plastic the other model goes through. Everything you need to mount it is in that box. 3. Different eyepieces. You really dont get any but IF...you want more cover these are the ones that fit. AmScope EG-SM Microscope Eyepiece Eyeshields or Eye-guards They arent bad and they are inexpensive to try out. Some notes: 1. HEAVY! The base is substantial! Big old piece of iron to keep it from tipping over (that wont be good). 2. Engrish. The assembly instructions arent the best in the world so look at pictures of this thing to figure it out. You'll know the main vertical rod and the locking ring as well as the horizontal arm. You may though have some head scratching with the scope end installation. A few minutes of looking at it and you will figure it out. 3. Tech Manuals and downloads. DO NOT THROW OUT THE BOX! there is a code on it that will allow you to download the digital copy of the tech manual. 4. Optics setup. If you know how to fit and adjust a pair of field glasses to your head and eyesight then this is will be very familiar. If not, you may have a little difficulty but it is pretty easy to do. Pupil distance, right eye focus, both eyes and adjust the left lens until its all in focus. Done. 5. Be sparing in lubrication! The ONLY thing you may want to do is like...show your can of CRC-336 to the paper towel and rub down the vertical and horizontal bars. TEENY TINY amount do not overdo it or those friction nuts holding everything up and horizontal may not work. 6. The cover. Yes it comes with one. Stinky vinyl, it fits and use it! That's about it. Again its not a Zeiss but its not a toy. Its value priced and with the right accessories will give you pretty decent performance. Good luck! ... show more

  • The base extension arm and swivel head adjustments are perfect for sharing the view
An upgrade for us after ten years with a basic model. The ring illuminator now comes with an adaptor, so the tapered objective barrel is not a problem if you want the controllable LED lighting. AmScope was very helpful in sorting this out for us when we missed the adapter ring in the excitement of unpacking. The optics are very bright, very sharp. We may be a bit unusual, in that we leave the 'scope on our kitchen table and use it constantly with children. The base extension arm and swivel head adjustments are perfect for sharing the view. I had wondered about the stability of the unit when fully extended - kids sometimes hang onto the eyepieces when viewing. No worries - it's heavy and super strong, very stable. Thanks to AmScope (and the Chinese) for making a quality instrument affordable for family use. ... show more

  • Very pleased
This is the first stereo scope I've owned, and the first I've used in many many years. I was prepared to pay twice as much but decided to take a chance. I'm very pleased! The fit and finish is excellent. I've found none of the rough edges or cheap-outs that often accompany bottom of the price range items. The base is *very* heavy and therefore stable. The chrome finish on the tubes makes adjustments very easy and yet the various knobs need only be finger tight to hold things in place. The glass is defect free and the focusing rack is velvet smooth. An additional surprise is that the eye pieces can be adjusted to compensate for my extreme near sightedness and being able to use it without glasses is a super bonus. The intra-ocular adjustment of the eye pieces is critical and it takes a bit of practice to get them set just so for full binocular vision. But, once you've got it tweaked, everything is clear and sharp. The magnification is more than adequate for my use assembling printed circuit boards and the wife is using it for her various crafts. One caveat is that the 'barrel' is just a bit bigger than the LED lighting rings (sold separately) will accommodate. I returned the LED ring and now use two inexpensive desk lamps which provide more than enough illumination. ... show more

  • Not an awesome expereince.
Box was delivered to my DRIVE WAY, in the rain and damaged. Package is missing the vertical arm collar and doesn't focus correctly. Acts as if it's stuck between two focal planes. Based on the reviews and feedback I was extremely excited to get this and now I couldn't be more disappointed. Total waste of money. I am sure it CAN be a great scope when it works! ... show more

  • Good Investment for our Lab
First off, this stereo microscope is impressive right out of the box. Quality of build seemed every inch a well built piece of equipment. Set up, without a good set of guidelines, was tricky. Online support is just that, on line support. Use the toll free number for best results. 15 minutes from dial up to hang up and problem was resolved. The Topview software is a bit awkward. If you invest the time, it can attain a satisfactory rating in the mid 5's on a scale of 1 to 10. Many of the features are intuitive, but again spend the time to fully acquaint yourself with the microscope. A ring light is essential as well as additional LED lighting. A moveable platform is also a must have. ... show more
