  • Fine scope for a great price
Style: 5 MP camera
I would expect to pay another $100 for a scope like this. Easy to use but complex enough to study pond life, and tissue samples with fine clarity. It's not just another kid's toy...it's a quality scope. Thanks Amscope for giving us a good selection of instruments at novice hobbyist price ranges.

  • Great Value
Style: 5 MP camera
I worked as a lab coordinator for an instructional lab at a major university for 35 years. In that capacity, I have evaluated; made purchasing decisions, and conducted basic maintenance and simple repair on the microscopes used by students. In our labs, this microscope wouldn't last a single semester. Having said that, this microscope is an incredible value at less than $350.00. It includes four parfocal objectives including an oil emersion lens; has an adjustable condenser; has an adjustable binocular head with two sets of oculars; has a build in variable intensity light that is sufficiently bright for use with the four objectives; has concentric coarse and fine focusing knobs; and has a mechanical stage that allows for precise manipulation of the subject slides. The field of view provided is respectable at all four magnifications (eight if you include the alternate set of oculars). Oh, it also includes a 5 MP digital camera that works with your computer. This combination is perfect for an old retiree who wishes to monitor the microbial life in his aquaria and in his river. It would be perfect for home-schooling, if the student treats it like glass. It won't survive rough handling, or an even one fall to the floor. ... show more

  • Little things are important (npi)
Style: 5 MP camera
Great scope for the buck, good images at 1000x, haven’t tried the oil immersion yet. The 5MP camera works well. It’s being used to teach a seven year old and four year old and they handle it well, focusing and moving the stage. I can see it as a decent quality lab scope or classroom scope at any level K-grad school, depending upon application. The slide holder on the stage is a weak point, it’s chintzy and slips easily over the slide rather than holding it securely in place. This little thing that really could be better done drops its rating a star. It’s manageable but disappointing. ... show more

  • Great! Looks great on the computer screen!
Style: 5 MP camera
We love the Amscope B120C microscope. It is easy to work and link to the computer. The images are crystal clear. The magnification is great. My 14 year old is becoming a scientist right before my eyes!

  • Good quality, the 5MP camera is extremely useful.
Style: 5 MP camera
Got this as a Christmas gift; from initial usage it seems like a very solid microscope. However I'm glad we got the 5MP USB camera as it actually much easier to use it that way rather than looking in the eyepieces. Some negatives: despite what's claimed, it doesn't ship with software for Mac OS X. You can still use it with Photobooth, but it's a bit disappointing. Packaging was spartan and there is no manual (which I miss). Don't expect an Apple-like unboxing experience here. The 5MP camera produces great pictures, but it doesn't sit snugly. Also, it would have been nice if the scope had shipped with a calibration slide so you could correlate pixels to µm. ... show more

  • Works for me
Style: 5 MP camera
When it comes to microscopes, I'm about as amateur as they come... But set up was very easy and for the most part everything was self explanatory with the help of watching some YouTube videos. It does take some getting used to when it comes to focusing, but I'm definitely happy with it.

  • Good Value for Money
Style: 5 MP camera
This is definitely not the best microscope, but it works sufficiently for my amatuer uses. If you're using it for anything more serious, it might be best to consider something else.

  • I'm very Satisfied
Style: 5 MP camera
Being able to hook it up to my iMac was just what I wanted. Worked perfectly using the Photo Booth App.
