First of all, print quality is top notch. If this stuff jams your hot end, don't use a printer you got in a box of cracker jacks. I printed at 220C and it's a nice matte clear color when not glowing. On to the good stuff. I couldn't tell this stuff was glowing until I had my room nearly pitch black. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't brighter, but not really enough to dock a star. If you look at the pictures, you'll see the glow level in the very dark room, glow level in a mostly dark room, and lights on. You can see that in the mostly dark room (middle picture) that it hardly glows at all, but there's definitely a blue tinge to it. I haven't gotten a chance to use the fluorescent orange since there's so little of it, I want to save it for something really great. I expect it will print just as flawlessly. As an "only port in the storm" option for glow blue, I'd definitely buy more of this, but I'd love to see a stronger glow. @AMOLEN, please go talk to the guys at 3D Solutech and ask how they're making their green. It's a world away from this stuff. ... show more

    • Terrible Design - pump doesn't work

Hand pump can't make a seal on bag. Vacuum indicator circle is not lined up to valve. design doesn't really make sense as there is no way to extract air from the bag because the valve has no volume. Hand pump is terrible quality and breaks at O ring seal because it can't pull any air out of the bag. One of the desiccant packs was just a sheet of paper that had the silica gel printed on it but no beads inside because it was just a sheet and not a packet. The media could not be loaded. For my Prime Day gift to myself, I bought my very first 3D printer, which is the Flashforge Adventurer 3. This is my first foray into this new hobby, not knowing what I’m getting myself into. This filament I chose only because it glows in the dark, so I thought, “Hey. I have to get that! How hard is it to make glow in the dark objects from that machine? It’s like hitting the print button on an inkjet, right?” As I learned the hard way, no, it isn’t. But it seems that this filament does make it a bit easier. This material is actually very easy to work with, after you get the settings dialed in on your machine just right. I’m pretty much using the stock firmware on the A3, and the default slicer FlashPrint from FlashForge. After a lot of finageling and putting well over 60 hours on the printer within a week I received it, the Amolen filament is a joy to work with. No extruder skips, never ever had any issues with the first layer, and decent prints allowed me to create an almost perfect iconic Benchy, and a somewhat complex wind up tourbillon escapement mechanism. All in all, this is my preferred filament (coming from a noobz). In the attached videos, I use a high power flashlight to demonstrate the glowing effect of this filament, along with the temperature sensitive filament that is also the Amolen brand. I’ve even purchased another spool of Amolen brand filament, and forsee this as my goto brand for my future applications requiring PLA material! ... show more

Overall it’s an ok product.. the glow doesn’t last long and the filament had a tendency to clog and to have bed adhesion issues even at slow speeds it however did have an amazing finish and the starry glow effect is fantastic. I wish reviewers would add more details about the product (if there are multiple varieties) and also the print conditions. This review is for the AMOLEN PETG Shade White. I used a Prusa i3 Mk2S, 0.4 nozzle, prints at 0.2 layer height, PrusaSlicer. First impressions, especially since this is the first PETG I have had: 1. Creamy. The color is close to a 2% milk. Very pleasing. 2. Opaque. I guess that is where the "Shade" comes from in the name. I did a calibration cube in vase mode, and all light was blocked when placed in front of a 100W light. 3. Sticky. Or maybe you could call it oozy or stringy. From what I understand, this is the nature of PETG to a certain extent. I ran a bunch of temperature towers and tweaked settings for quite a while before I settled on something I could deal with. On that note, here are some recommendations when using... A. Adjust Live Z on your first print to be higher than that for PLA. At least on a PEI plates, this stuff really sticks. You can find this recommendation around the internet. B. Make sure your hot-end is clean. Since this stuff is sticky, it can accumulate on the hot-end, which will stick to more of it later, causing a mess. C. Preheat nozzle and remove ooze before executing print. This kind of goes with B, so that you keep the hot-end as clean as possible. D. Run a temperature tower. A few other reviews mentioned that they were using a 230+C nozzle temperature, but I don't think they mentioned which specific filament they were using. I found I had much better bridging at 220 and below (perhaps due to the amount of pigment used to make it opaque?). Lower temps might mean less strong layer bonding though. If you are not doing bridging, then 230C is probably fine. I adjusted my retraction Lift Z to 0.2mm (default was 0.6mm). I found that at 0.6, the lift would cause a peak of PETG to form. When the nozzle would return to that position on the next layer, that peak would catch and adhere to the side of the nozzle (recall I wrote that it is sticky?). Repeat that over a couple-hundred layers, and you'll be trailing around a PETG blob, causing all sorts of quality issues. I also changed my Bridge Flow rate to 0.8 because this stuff flowed very easily, which you kind of want to slow down on bridges. So, it was a bit of a challenge to get setup, but the creamy color is awesome, and flat surfaces come out super smooth with a matte white finish. Just set a realistic expectation that you might need to play with your slicer settings to get optimum performance. ... show more
