Like a lot of homes our living room had no overhead lighting and use of floor or table lamps just didn’t cut it. After a fair amount of research decided to purchase these lights. Pros. inexpensive, well made metal body and clips not plastic like some, ability to change color, straight forward install, look nice, low energy consumption, lights themselves are thin, complete unit (no need to buy can,trim and bulb separately), LEDs don’t get hot can contact insulation. Cons. Template provided is worthless, as others mentioned it makes too big a hole. I made a 6” hole which gave me a nice clean fit. If a light goes out you can’t just replace a bulb. Will these last? only time will tell. As for ease of installation, that will depend on your knowledge and expertise. My install involved pulling power from an existing line, dropping a new switch wire and box in the wall for a dimmer and then putting the lights in. Fortunately I had attic access and at 68 can still manage to crawl around up there (just barely). These weren’t any easier or harder to install than other retrofit cans. I did bench test all lights and boxes to make sure each functioned properly, didn’t want to have the hassle of one not working after installation. I also went online and used a spacing calculator for recessed lighting, put in length and width of the room it shows how many lights and were to put them for proper coverage. I’m not an electrician but have done electrical work since my teens. I like these and would probably buy again if needed. Just my thoughts. Best of luck with your install. ALOHA ... show more

What a great product! I was doing research for our bathroom remodel project when I came across a video of a guy installing these low profile lights. I said to myself, self, this could be a game changer! So I order this set, seeing I could adjust the light settings and cost. As any DIY person knows, the best laid out plans have issues. Thinking I was cutting a hole in between the rafters above the bathtub, I was right in the middle of it!!! Seeing that these stated you can mount them there, I tride it. It worked perfectly! I have purchased these lights several times and overall the quality is pretty good. The color is selectable with 3 options. The lights are very easy to install and are thin enough that if you accidentally place one on a stud, 5/8” drywall is thick enough to still mount it. The only issue I have had with these is that occasionally they seem to fail earlier than expected, I.e. within a year. I am honestly fine with this based on the price because they are so much cheaper than the big box store offerings that it’s actually still cheaper for me to replace the occasional failure. ... show more

If you have an application where one of your floor joist or trusses is in the way, this is your go to light. Combine it with a 6 1/4 holesaw for $15 and it took about 10 minutes to install. It also came with push connectors, which are very handy. In case you are wondering, the brightness settings go from white, combination white and yellow, and then several other shades of yellow light to set the brightness temperature for your room.
