We selected this unit based on the excellent reviews and are not disappointed. The unit is very attractive overall. The electric fireplace is quite nice and works well. The fireplace is much more attractive than I had imagined and is quite enjoyable. A few details for your consideration, if you are considering purchasing this unit: The unit is very heavy, consisting largely of particle board. Count on two people to move it into your home after delivery -- we actually had to use a hand cart to move it inside. The same for positioning it after assembly -- you'll need a helper to move it. Assembly was quite time-consuming. It took me several hours and a good measure of patience to assemble it, although per the reviews, others have fared much better than I did in terms of the amount of time required. The assembly instructions consist of pictures only and are reasonably accurate. Speaking of assembly, one of the pieces was broken upon arrival. I called the manufacturer, and was told they would certainly ship a replacement part, but shipping would take 7 - 14 days. This was not acceptable to us, because we had guests coming soon and wanted the assembly to be completed prior to the arrival of our guests. I made a special request for overnight shipping, and the customer service rep was extremely helpful. She was unable to offer overnight shipping, but received approval to ship the needed part via 2-day express. The replacement part arrived quickly, as promised. The customer rep even followed up with emails and a phone call to keep me informed about the progress of shipping the part to us -- absolutely outstanding service in this regard. Although I felt the original offer of shipping a part in 7-14 days was entirely inappropriate, I was extremely pleased and impressed that they were able to make an exception based on my request. And, as I noted above, their follow-up after shipping was very impressive. My experience with their customer service was therefore excellent. Bear in mind that the unit has a center section that is raised, relative to the left and right sections. We have placed a sound bar on this center section, and although it "hangs over" the sides of the center section by about 5 inches on each side, we don't find that circumstance to be a negative... it looks just fine. One potential cautionary consideration. The two side cabinets, intended to hold components such as a Blu-ray players, DVR, or other equipment, measure just a tad over 17 inches. Many audio-visual components are in fact 17 inches in width, but if yours are larger, they likely will not fit. Indeed, it was a bit of tricky business to get our 17-inch wide components into these side cabinets... i had to place them in the cabinets prior to attaching the back to the unit (the rear of the cabinets has more clearance than the front). Measure first, before buying. Summary -- overall we are very satisfied with this purchase: it is very attractive overall; the fireplace is a plus and looks quite nice; it is a nice addition to our living room. The fireplace has a remote control which appears to be an upgrade over the one described in the instructions; although the instructions did not apply, the supplied remote is self-evident in terms of its operation. Although we received a broken part, customer service was excellent in terms of accommodating our special request for immediate shipping of the replacement part. I'd suggest making sure you have a helper to bring the unit inside following delivery, and a helper would definitely be a plus when assembling the unit. Measure your audio/visual components to be sure they will fit in the side cabinets. We are quite happy with the unit and do recommend it. ... show more

For the price paid, very pleased with this piece. It looks terrific. Assembly is straight forward, the pieces are well labeled and everything was there. There is extra hardware included as well. The finish is a satin black and rather rich looking for a piece of assembled furniture. Be careful during assembly as sharp corners can easily damage the finish. Spread the pieces out and take your time, use the foam wrapping packing material to protect pieces if you have to stack them. A Sharpie and a bit of Endust will hide any scratches. Best assembled with two people as an extra set of hands greatly eases assembly. Of note, the side compartments are a little narrow. Our surround sound receiver JUST fit; I had to angle it in, then level it and place the shelf under it while holding it up with one hand. Be sure to check your measurements. If you have a lot of components, you may want to attach the back LAST to slide them in from the back (avoids the moulding in front) and makes connections easier. The fireplace effect is pretty nice, the heater works well, it has a thermostat and timer and the fan is not noisy. Be sure to check your TV if you are placing it directly on the unit. We have a 70" which the stand says it will accommodate (and it does) however, the feet of the stand overhang the center raised platform a bit, not into the room, just over the lower sections on the side. So again, check your measurements if this would not be acceptable, or use a wall mount. ... show more

I am always concerned that when I buy furniture online that it's poor quality. This is a heavy well crafted piece of furniture. Although it is particle board, its a dense and heavy version plus the veneer is top notch. The directions were concise and easy to follow. I can't comment on the longevity of the fireplace insert, but the furniture part will last for years and years. The insert does have a loud fan and if it happens to break I would happily buy a new insert. I am impressed with this solid piece of furniture and totally its worth every penny. ... show more

Product as delivered is heavy, coated fiberboard plus heater. Have truck deliver as close to front door as possible, in my case the drive way. I found it easier to open crate outside and carry parts into the house. Foam packing gets all over the place. Each wood section is labeled “A”, “B”, etc. Likewise, fasteners, screws, etc are labeled 1,2,3 etc. lined up all my wooden parts in order and placed all my fasteners in bowls. Directions and schematics are pretty clear. If you ever bought anything from IKEA you’ll breeze through the job, although it will take several hours. I will contact the company and see if I can get a little stain. Crate was damaged and there are a couple of minor nicks to touch up. Nice looking and sturdy unit for a reasonable price. Only took me an hour and a half to put together by myself. 2 screws were not included but I improvised and it worked just fine and is still solid as a rock. There was one small broken piece that I was able to just slide into place after getting everything put together and you can't even notice so no big deal. One of the side pieces "G" have a scrape and missing paint but I can just fill it in with some black paint and it won't be noticeable whatsoever. Fireplace works great and it looks amazing! Definitely worth the purchase regardless of the few road bumps. Would definitely buy again! ... show more

Was a little nervous to order, but really glad we did. The box was beat up, but the contents were in perfect condition. The instructions are pretty easy to follow and it did take us about two hours to assemble. Follow the directions. It puts out nice heat and the fireplace looks nice.
