When we decided to replace a toilet in our house, we didn't realize that the seat was not included. Can you imagine? No seat? Do toilet manufacturers expect us to use a toilet without a seat? So I went shopping here on Amazon and found this one. Right shape, right size, right color. When I first took it out of the box I didn't think I would like it because the lid is plastic. I thought the entire thing would be wood. After having it installed, I decided it was pretty neat as it is. The soft-close feature is rather nice. It just sort of glides shut. And hubby likes the little lip area (please forgive the use of the word "lip"... not sure what else to call it) so that he can lift the seat easily in order to do what males do when standing in front of a toilet. My only concern is whether or not this will hold up if someone sits on the closed toilet seat due to it being plastic. For right now, this is working out just fine. If I have any problems with it in the future, I will update my review. ... show more

While this still feels like a toy (plastic) toilet seat compared to what I grew up with 40 years ago, it is definitely a stronger version of the standard plastic seat that came with the Cadet-3 toilet. With the original seat, if one sat on it when fully closed, it buckled slightly & felt as if it would not hold a below-average-weight female like me. This version bought today does not buckle, and has a small tab on the seat for more sanitary lifting. ... show more

As expected with no complaints. Not sure how I feel about the raised edge on the lid. My previous seat was flush on the top of the lid. The only thing I would draw to one's attention is if you are someone who prefers to sit back and lean against the lid, it is not the most comfortable.

Works good, easy install and stain free from using disinfectant cleaners. The only bad is that you should not stand on the cover since the plastic is not strong enough and flexes. My previous wood based toilet seat had no issues with standing on it once in a while to access stuff on the bathrooms shelves behind my toilet. ... show more

Usually have to replace toilet seat covers in resale homes over the years, was looking for a long-term solution this time. This one had the added benefit of not slamming down. More lightweight than masonite = don't stand on it except in emergency! Cleaning is a breeze and unless abrasive cleansers or scrub pads are used, this one shouldn't degrade over time. ... show more

The lid closes slowly stopping the lid droppers. I expected it to loosen up after a while but it's been almost 3 years and it still works great. The color doesn't match my American Standard toilet exactly - the seat/lid is more of a pure white while the toilet has more of a grey/white tone.

this toilet seat is very clean looking and fits very well. We have been looking for awhile for a replacement seat but haven't been able to find anything until now, without spending a fortune. So far I am very pleased. Also the 'soft/slow close' is great. Hopefully, it will continue to work. This is a great seat. Nice slow fall, super quite closing function. However, the seat does look a bit too institutional. Wish I could find a cover that fits. I found one that I thought would work, but with it on, the seat would note stay up.
