It does its job to keep kids out but do not buy it for the looks because you will get it with a million dings in it. So upset as this was a gift for someone and it is a wreck.

Fine gun cabinet, not sure what everyone else was expecting. You will not be able to force your way in without some sort of tools, so It's at least child proof. A burgler would also have a very hard time removing the whole safe, but I suppose he may be able to open it if he was determined. With that said this is gun cabinet, not a safe. This is designed for storage only, and keeping children out. This fit nicely in a small closet in my apartment. I love the added pistol safe, really keeps everything organized. They did cheap out with the lock in the pistol cabinet, I would have preferred the same type of lock used for the rifle housing. Also this was delivered while I was at work, and the box had a giant picture of the safe on the front. Not sure I wanted the whole neighborhood to know I had several firearms, but still overall I like this product. ... show more

I ordered one just to keep guns away from my kids. My safe came and after inspection noticed that the top part of the safe the weld completely broke corner to corner. Had them send out another one. This one looked fine but when I tried to open the safe the door had been damaged and required a lot of effort to open. Once I opened the door I was unable to close it because the door was bent in a way that the door wasn't square with the frame. I returned that one too. First of all it is a metal gun cabinet and not a gun safe, but it fits my needs of securing my ammunition and guns. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I chose to anchor it to the wall and not the floor. There were no pre-drilled holes in the back of cabinet so I had to drill the holes myself and then attach it to the wall with my own anchors. Exactly as described, a gun cabinet, not a gun safe. But it meets California law requirements. I am pleased with the purchase; it arrived early in the 4 or 5 day shipping window the company provided. I had some concerns when I placed the order about damage that earlier purchasers had mentioned. This was NOT a problem; I'd say that Bison has fixed their packaging issues if the condition my cabinet arrived in is any indication. There were no dents, no scratches on the cabinet, even though the box had taken quite a bit of damage and looked beat up initially. I did have one issue with Bison and sent them an email (on a Saturday) to question them and they responded immediately Monday morning with a very satisfactory response and resolution. They had inadvertently sent extra stuff, and just told me to keep it. Interesting to note, I had tried to call Bison when I received the order with the extra material, and though they were closed on the weekend, their phone answering message gave me clear information on sending an email, if I wanted, with their addie clearly stated. So, Sturdiness well it’s not a Safe! It is a cabinet and it licks my Guns up well enough to keep my son from getting to them. Though I didn’t let him try. I ordered a Fingerprint Cabinet Lock to put on top small safe box. Keep the keys for long gun section in there. So, now I have quick access to my pistols and all my guns are secured to Colorado State Standards (can’t say about California or others.) Mine arrived unscathed but I see it could dent easily or be pried open. Low level security you judge your needs. Looks like a safe but I keep it in a closet where no one sees it anyway. Seems like quality build of the cabinet. The locks seem a little cheap, I worry that I may have to replace them after some use. There are no instructions about mounting to wall or floor but its not issue, it did come with bolts but you may need to buy or have some small pieces of wood handy for proper mount. It won't hold a rifle longer than 22" my 12 GA just barely fit and had to be put in cabinet at angle. I like this cabinet but it certainly wouldn't hurt if they made this an inch taller and wider. Everything is tight in the rifle cabinet and that's where just a little more height and width would makes this perfect size. Mounted to a wall or floor would make this hard to steal and it seems like it would be a task to break into but certainly not impossible. Will do until I can upgrade to gun safe. ... show more

I got my cabinet today, damaged. the bottom left of the door was bent in. could not open it, my husband had to use a crowbar to pry it open. it bends out at the top left and is bent in at the bottom. it can open, close and lock. but does not look to good. not sending back. I am going to deal with it. at least its not for everyone to see. I believe that this was done in the shipment. ... show more
