The finger print reader works well and was easy to set up. The pin doesn't seem to work. I've tried several times. It only has 4 numbers too, which is just strange. How much would the full keypad have been? The safe is not deep enough for an M4 with no optics on it. The gun has to be in sideways for the door to close. I might get 4 long guns in there, but they'd be jammed together sideways without any scopes. There's no organization to it either. There was a 5 spot foam bracket that came with it, but there's no lower support and no way you're getting 5 guns in there. There's also one small shelf, but it's only good for ammo boxes. I have 2 hand guns in there for now, but they're just sort of floating around in the bottom until I replace it. I have no idea what I'm going to use it for when I replace it either, so pretty much a waste of $400. This is a good safe for your kids .22s. Pretty much my opinion on this safe is that you should spend more money and get a better one. I should have. ... show more

Ours came in damaged in two spots. Sent pics and request to Barska multiple times for either a rebate, credit or something and no response. It's too heavy to pack up and ship back. Otherwise the save is great. It's a bit tight on inside for longer shotguns (28" +) but we've modded it with felt and added a motion light and it works well so far. ... show more

All electronics worked but instructions were a bit vague and I struggled a bit. Reading product description and reading reviews would avoid some issues. The dimensions for the AX 12760 (4 gun) are provided and the safe is not built for 4 guns with some attachments. Example: AR 15 will only fit without mag or with at 20 rd. with some rail optics. I managed two weapons, might squeeze a third in. Also, yes it needs attached to the wall or it will fall over with the weight of the door opened. Attaching deters theft. My biggest complaint, as many say, is the packaging. Delivery bangs them around pretty hard. This is my second one and the package was beat up again. Only dinged a corner edge which I can touch up. My first one had dings too. Otherwise not a bad product. Built for quick access and easily hides behind a door, best for a small number of essential quick access weapons. I would get a bigger model if you want more ideal gun storage. Lastly, for best results enter multiple finger prints at different angles and depth for same finger. ... show more

I’ll be completely transparent here because gun storage is very important. I bought this particular safe because I live in an apartment, and share a closet with my girlfriend, so space plays a big role. This safe will definitely meet your space requirements, as it is VERY small. I really mean that. It is advertised to fit 4 long guns without attachments, or 2 with attachments, but I couldn’t imagine fitting more than two guns in here, scopes or not. I am currently only storing my AR in this safe, with a red dot sight, and I have to twist it sideways to make it fit properly. I could see MAYBE being able to store another rifle in here, but without a scope. Just keep that in mind when you’re shopping for safes - I am most likely going to get a bigger safe next year. Space aside, access has been solid so far. Fingerprint reader works really well, passcode was a bit tricky to set up, but works well too - just have to press the buttons kind of hard. I was able to anchor the safe into the wall with no problem, definitely needs to be anchored. Finally, this safe is meant to keep children out, and keep your guns out of sight and out of mind. Someone with half a brain could blast through the metal without issue. Verdict: buy a bigger safe. ... show more

The safe arrived undamaged and was the correct model (apparently other reviewers reported getting the wrong model). For a basic rifle safe it is very well built though I agree with others who have said it is a little top heavy. The biometrics module works well - the instructions encourage you to register the same fingers multiple times to better insure recognition if not placed on the reader exactly the same way each time. I have tested the reader and have had 100% reliability so far. The added feature of a numeric keypad is great though I would imagine it would be hard to use in an emergency. Since batteries are required for operation it is nice that it warns you when batteries are low as well as allowing for a 9v battery to be placed in a strategic location on the outside to power the unit in the event of a dead battery. The ability to use a key is a nice feature and works very well. The door bolts are very sturdy and plentiful - 3 on the side and one each on top and bottom. Though not impenetrable, it would take a determined thief with time and tools at their disposal. It is heavy enough (when loaded) to discourage anyone from a quick “grab and go”. The wall and floor anchors can add additional deterrent if used. It is a good value for the price. It is not unusual for cheaper biometrics to start failing after 4-5 years so we’ll see about the longevity. Replacing batteries early and often is a good safeguard if you want it to open reliably in an emergency. My only criticism is that I think simplex locks are superior to biometric locks. They don’t require batteries and are 100% reliable regardless of its age. I wish I could get the same safe with Simplex lock instead. If there were a comparable safe with a simplex lock, I would have bought it instead. I am considering retrofitting a simplex lock in place of the biometrics. I have taken apart the interior door panel, and it looks as if this may be possible. You get what you pay for with safes but this one is a great value for the price. ... show more
