I installed this camera approximately 2 weeks ago. Since then I have been very happy with the camera. It has an excellent wide angle view and it provides a clear image during the day or night. It is an expensive model but if you want to see clearly at night it is a reasonable buy.

I am being given a discount to review, but my review will be honest. I have used reolink, UniFi protect, amcrest and a few others for both work and home. I have had this connected for about 10 days. No issues The cameras mount is interesting and allows a lot more flexibility. The setup is basically a camera sealed as a ball, in a mount that allows rotation and angle. You can hit any angle from any mount position. This camera has both an impressive IR illuminator and impressive low light sensitivity. The app and NVR both are long over due for an overhaul and while I don’t count that against the camera it is important to understand. The camera though is easily discovered by the NVR and App. I do not use the cloud. I was disappointed that I missed the “external mic” part when it listed supported 1 way audio, but that’s my fault in reading; however I don’t see a good way connect an external mic.

The media could not be loaded. Another well built outdoor POE by Amcrest. Easy setup that works with existing Amcrest apps and software. Our use case is unique. It is used as a standalone wildlife camera. The optical zoom allows use to change the field of view based on placement. Motion works works great and images are clear. Captures are that transferred via FTP to a server for collection. When capturing video, it will record the 5 seconds before the motion events which is great. An internal SD card is fallback to capture images/videos if FTP server is unavailable. I would definitely purchase this camera again. In fact I may just order one now.

The IP8M-VT2779EW follows in the footsteps of other Amcrest cameras (such as my IP8M-2493E, which will be replaced soon) with one important difference--optical zoom with manual focus capability. Download the Amcrest app as described in the instructions for a mobile setup. Or, the desktop version can be used (as shown in the photo) for an even quicker setup. The zoom and focus operations can be controlled via the mobile app, even more configuration options are available in the desktop application. When accessing the camera via the local network, one additional option is to connect with the camera via a web browser. A POE connection is the preferred method to power the camera. Additionally, a 12 Volt receptacle is also available for powering the camera directly and using a standard Ethernet connection. Metal construction and expandable SD storage make for a robust camera package. As with other Amcrest cameras, it is very easy to set up port forwarding as an alternative to using the Amcrest P2P servers, which do work well.

Great 4k camera. Motorized zoom, manual pan/tilt functions. Zoom it to where you want, then click on an area to focus so you get crystal clear images/video. Definitely one of the better 4k cameras out there. It doesn't have a dome over it, so you won't get the IR light bouncing all over inside the dome destroying your images/video. The IR light has a bit of a hotspot directly in front of it, but shines quite far. I can confirm at about 80 feet the night vision is excellent compared to competitors, it's advertised at up to 131.2 feet, I can't comment on that, but based on what I'm seeing at 80 feet, it should be pretty good as well. Daytime images/video is as good as it gets, with it's 4k resolution details come to life, although that means recordings have hefty file sizes, so make sure you get plenty of storage!

This camera has excellent low-light capabilities, even with the IR illuminator disabled. By going into Setup on the camera's web interface and selecting BLC, then setting a 1/3 second shutter speed in manual mode, I can see inside my very dark garage. I only have some stray light from a few LEDs on a 5-port network switch to provide any source of light. I am also happy that the camera works with the Amcrest ViewPro app in iOS and is recognized by various NVR programs, such as Synology and Blue Iris. My only concern is with the optical zoom. While it is usually sharp and works well, autofocus can struggle in low-light situations. Not a huge issue but worth mentioning. Overall, I am quite pleased with this camera and look forward to testing it outdoors.
