This is a heavy duty light stand. It's nice and tall, and has to and side-mounted holes for the lug. This means that you can use it as a straight up very tall light stand, but also as a backdrop support, and can theoretically (as shown in the product ad pictures) use it as a boom stand, although none of the components are included for that use case. For a tall light stand, this is excellent, and is very solidly built. It has a good weight rating, over 25lbs, so if you do use it as a boom, you need to be careful of the weight you're attaching to it, and make sure you use a TON of sandbags to keep it from falling over onto your subject. The big issue I have with this is the price. It's a good 10% more than some other 'actual' boom light stands that are just as good quality. I point this out because it's advertised as being a 'all in one' solution for light stands, including use as a boom. If they are going to advertise it in that capacity, they should make sure it's comparable to other vendor's products at a similar price point. If this had included the mount for a boom, it would be 5 stars. To compare it with other steel light stands, I've found two packs that are roughly the same price and quality as this single. Ambitful has become one of my favorite up and coming companies with their gear, but I think they missed the mark on the price-point for this one.

Many light stands claim to be heavy duty in their descriptions but rarely are. This stand on the other hand truly IS HEAVY DUTY. I’ve owned lots of light stands over the past 40 years and this is one of the strongest, tallest and most secure stands out of all of them. The stand is entirely made out of metal with the center columns and legs being made out of steel which gives it its superiority over aluminum stands. One thing the stand is not - is light. It’s definitely heavy and that gives it its strength and stability. Everything locks down securely and it’s the kind of stand you can attach a boom arm to and feel secure about it. A five star stand that will not disapoint.
