  • It sounds much better than the original Echo Studio!
Color: Glacier White Size: Pack of 1
I tried liking the original Studio, I really did. I bought it on two separate occasions only to return it both times. It had a veiled treble response that I could not get used to. After I saw the frequency response plot at Rtings, it all made sense. But this new Echo Studio sounds really good as long as you have reasonable expectations. I'm the type of person that has 4 SVS PB16 Ultras in my main home stereo. This Studio has bass. It's deep enough to allow me to enjoy most of my music. It even hits the low note in Eurobass by Techmaster PEB! I wasn't expecting something this small to sound this deep. After reading some of these initial reviews, I thought about canceling my order but I'm glad I didn't. I did wish it was bigger though. I'd be happy if it was the size of a volleyball because that means it can produce some real bass but I must admit I'm really liking it. It's also relatively expensive as well. I feel like it should only cost twice as much as the latest round Echo (not the Dot), so I hope it gets heavily discounted in the future. But honestly, I don't think many speakers like this sound this good. The closest thing I can think of is the Sonos Five, which I also used to own. I really thought I was going to return it but it looks like it's going to be a keeper, and I'm thinking about upgrading some of my other Echos to this model. My recommendation is to try it for yourself. Who knows. You might like it! ... show more

  • So disappointed!
Color: Graphite Size: Pack of 1
I could buy a much better quality speaker in this premium price range.. without these unnecessary limitations and the constant, annoying announcements. Every time I play something through Bluetooth, it announces “Playing from [device name]”, even though the device is already paired and connected. It’s frustrating and completely disrupts the listening experience. the Alexa Devices team seems unaware of how irritating this is for customers. Discussion forums are filled with complaints asking for an option to disable this announcement, but they still haven’t done anything about it. Thank you for convincing me to return this. Update: I actually received a call from Amazon regarding this review, and they requested me to return the device to their lab for testing. I did return it, but to my surprise, they issued the refund as a gift card balance instead of my original payment method. Customer service said it was done as a “goodwill gesture” even though my order is still within the standard return window. Wow, that’s quite an experience! I’ve performed multiple tests, and I can confidently say that the older Echo (4th Generation) performs far better than the new Echo Studio 2025. ... show more

  • It has limitations if you stream through Spotify. Kinda Pricey. Sound lacks depth.
Color: Graphite Size: Pack of 1
So, this is the newest version of Amazon’s Echo Studio speaker. Yes, it automatically includes Alexa Plus, but that’s a different review. I’m here to review the speaker, though Alexa Plus is a part of the allure. First, the sound quality. The music is ok. I tried classical, jazz, and Nathalie Merchant. I compared the sound to a portable rechargeable Bose Speaker that I’ve had for 5 years. The Echo Studio is not as good. It lacks depth. I played Marco Frisina’s Anima Christi and the Bose just sounds way better. The voices were just that much clearer. But a funny thing happened when I played We Get Requests by Oscar Peterson—the Echo Studio more than held its own. It’s a jazzy album—highly regarded. On the Echo Studio all the different instruments came through clearly. It was delightful. I was impressed. But on the aforementioned Anima Christi, which is mostly vocals, the Bose Speaker was clearly better. Now, on the negative—if your music provider is Spotify, Alexa struggles to play their music. Forget about asking Alexa to play any playlists you may have on Spotify, at least for now. Maybe an update can fix it. It was disappointing and frustrating. It might work better on Amazon Music service since it is part of the Amazon universe. Now, on the plus side, if you’re a lover of audio books through Amazon's audible, it works flawlessly. Alexa’s Plus will play any title and keeps track of where you are and where you left off. And it plays the audiobooks with amazing clarity, a smidge better than my Bose speaker. Which was odd because on Anima Christi vocals were much better on the Bose speaker. Set up was a breeze. And from past experience, I know this speaker will perform reliably. And it will get regular updates. One more thing—this speaker comes with an equalizer, but you rely on Alexa plus to adjust the bass, the treble, and the midrange. Ask Alexa, she’ll add base. So not a true equalizer, but still, it’s available. So, would I recommend it? Honestly, it is a bit pricey. Their most expensive speaker to date. And I was not really impressed with the sound, not at this price. But, considering all it does, it’s ok. I must admit, I was disappointed. I love Amazon products. Love their value. Their reliability. Love Alexa, both old and new. And I did splurge on this speaker. So, will I keep it? Well, I’ll play around with the equalizer some more. Adjust it. But even then, its limitations with Spotify is a dealbreaker for me. Please fix it, Amazon. ... show more

  • Don't listen to the hate.
Color: Graphite Size: Pack of 1
Honestly, I don't get the hate. I'll start with the speaker itself; It sounds great, especially the mids. It could benefit from a little more low end, but honestly the bass it has still sounds good. The speaker also fires from three directions, so sound and volume are just as good listening from the sides as it does from the front. This Echo has played several different types of music and despite reviews claiming that it's "inconsistent", I did not find that to be the case at all with mine. The setup was beyond easy. In fact, Amazon had already registered the device to my account including the Mac address before it had even arrived. Alexa plus is amazing, although it is annoying how it's yet another subscription, but at least they include it with prime (which most people have anyways). At 100% volume, it still maintains good audio quality and when paired with movies programmed with Dolby Atmos, I'm happy to report it does not disappoint. Overall, I think most people have an issue with the price. Which I get to an extent, as the 4th gen Echo this basically replaces only cost $100 plus tax. So 133% increase in price is a little questionable, but without a doubt as a person coming from a 4th gen Echo, this new Studio model is pretty much better in every way. ... show more
