Ive had these 2Ib dumbells for 3 years, and they have quickly become a staple in my fitness routine. These dumbbells are well-made and portable, making them perfect for many exercises. Quality-Wise They feel sturdy and durable, giving me confidence that they will hold up well over time. If you buy those big heavy ugly uncoated iron weights (not these), sometimes you'll look at them and think "Forget it, I'll lift them some other time". Because that type of weight can feel cold and rough, and if you only get the heavy ones you may view them as hard to get started/motivated. The point of getting weights is to use them, not to buy and feel macho looking at them sitting in the corner, while they collect dust. These weights come in a variety of sizes and colors, they are very attractive and feel good in your hands. I bought the 8 pounds (each) red and the 12 pounds (each) blue. The reds are nice to get started in your workout, if you are a man you'll likely find them easy but that's the point - they get you started easily, they don't intimidate you or make you feel like they will be an ordeal. After starting with a low weight like the reds, you can move to the blues or whatever you want, however you want. I would guess that women will want to start at much lower weights than the 8 pound reds, and fortunately those are available too at great prices and attractive colors. I found the weights to be nicely finished, though there were some minor spots where I chose to sandpaper them down slightly to be even smoother. I wouldn't say that this is necessary but you might want to consider doing it. If they made some 16 lb dumbells I might consider buying them too, but as of now I'm very satisfied with the 8's and 12's. They do have some nice looking 15's (forest green) but I'm not sure those are enough of a bump up from the 12's to be worthwhile for me, and the 20's would be too heavy for what I want. Overall these are a tremendous value, especially when you consider the free shipping from Amazon on what will be a heavy package.

These weights are a great bang for your buck! I was looking to up my work outs and when out shopping, I was surprised to see how expensive weights can be. Luckily, I found these and so far so good! I love the texture, it’s nice and smooth and the quality is spot on. Would definitely recommend!

I think it's a great budget buy, but the handle size is a bit wide and the material makes it slip a little if your hands get sweaty. Overall though it's not bad, but if you have the budget buy ones that don't have such a smooth and soft material as the grip.

I needed to buy five sets of dumbbells, and I almost fell for a fancy set in beautiful colors (rose, forest, grey, and sandstone). Then I stopped myself and was like, "Hold up, these are just weights! Who cares what they look like?!" I got all five sets of Amazon Basics dumbbells for around 30% of the price I would've paid for that expensive brand. These are a really good deal! And sure, I wish the colors were cooler, but nobody's watching me work out, so who cares? Also, if you're debating between vinyl and neoprene, I'll weigh in: I've used vinyl-coated dumbbells for years, and they're great. My physical therapist has neoprene-coated ones, and they're always filthy (I can't imagine how you'd clean them because they're hard to wipe off). The vinyl ones are comfortable to hold and easy to clean. For me, they're the best!
