I already had a similar lock box and needed another. This Amazon version was cheaper, so I thought "why not?" All I can say is wow, I did not expect it to be so much nicer than the $35 box I bought from another seller. Three big things: 1 the metal is clearly MUCH heavier that my other one, and it is noticeably stronger. 2, the lock is much higher quality, I mean the combination. On my other, it doesn't turn "up" so easy, so I have to turn the numbers "down" to get to the combo. On this one, the numbers turn very easy both directions. 3, the included cable is literally 2x as thick as the other box I have. on my other box, the part that secures inside the box is just a knot, whereas on this Amazon box, it is a steel "mushroom" that fits in the side of the box and doesn't take up much room. Oh, and the foam padding is much heavier duty. I am very please. Will NOT be returning this one!

TSA carry on Travel. I was kind of surprised no one has said anything about this. It's a nice sturdy box for travel. I need to store valuables when going through security check points overseas. The one problem is the provided lock can't be opened by TSA. I didn't see this addressed in any comments as far as a "carry on" goes. I believe I fixed that issue. I bought a 2.5 inch pin (63.5mm) at a hardware store which is long enough, a 2-in is not. I had to bore a hole in the pin at the top using a drill and a 5/32 drill bit making it a "clevis pin." The small TSA approved locks I used are .15 mm (5/32"). So that fit in the cleavage pin hole I made. The Amazon safe already has pre-drilled holes on the bottom side which provided me a place for my pin. I took a 1/4 inch drill bit (6.35 mm) and bored that hole larger and continued through to the other side. There are two and a half inch clevis pins for sale at 5/8 inch diameter . The hole in the safe would still need to be drilled and possibly the pin itself for the correct size of your TSA lock. Hopefully this will work for security and you. I don't need to bother now with the provided lock. If TSA removes my lock, the other will be left accessible.

This Portable Security Lock is a solid option for keeping my personal valuables safe whenever I am travelling or at home. The quality is good and the steel cable adds and extra layer of security when it is anchored on fix objects. I place my passport, small electronics like phones and some cash. The lock mechanism works but not that great and can be a little stiff at times. I thought the interior had a bit more padding so that I can place my delicate items. To small and the number pad doesnt turn well.

These are the perfect sized safes (Large) for the area under the front seats of my Lexus GX550. No electronics or biometrics to fail and the construction seems relatively robust. I liked it so much I bought an XXL and a second L for my home. The finish on these is quite poor. All of my safes arrived with small scratches and dents from the factory, and some of the scratches were touched up with permanent marker. Nothing a good sticker from Ruger or Springfield wont fix. Just don't put a Sig Sauer sticker on it because the safe will no longer be drop-proof if you do =P Also, the XL size is pointless as its only a few millimeters bigger than the L in every dimension.
