  • Good (so far) in its class
Size: Full Style: 2 Inch
There are much more expensive ones, but this seems good enough for what I paid. I got the 2'' full. It puffed up to full size (and is really 2'' thick) in under an hour, without permanent creases, and did not have a bad smell. The material is a bit firmer overall than the super-cheap (memory-foam-only, non-gel) one I got from Target a while back. Nevertheless, it is actually more porous, with bigger air pockets in the foam (it is a bit rougher to bare-skin touch than average). Combined with the gel content, this airiness is apt to keep it a bit cooler. The bit more firmness than average for memory foam is nice, actually; it has less of that "sinking" or "trapped" feeling. I have not had it long enough to say for sure whether I "sleep cool" with this one. I only "slept hot" with the old one occasionally (and it depends a lot on the environmental temperature). Also too new for me to assess how well it holds up, but given that I only weigh 160 lb, I expect it to do well. I will update my review later, as needed. I'm docking one star for it being smaller than the actual size of the mattress. It is less offensive in this regard than many brands (some of which are up to 6'' too short!), but still. It should be exactly the standardized size. I'm also irritated that Amazon jacked up the price of this by several dollars after I added it to my cart, then dropped it back down again right after I ordered. This price-hopping stuff shouldn't happen more than maybe on a daily basis, instead of by the minute. ... show more

  • Super comfy.... allow space and time to air out first.
Size: King Style: 2 Inch
I enjoy going to bed. I find myself going to bed as early as possible and watch TV. It's such a comfy bed now. I was introduced to these by my sisters guest suite. Theirs is a 3 inch. I sunk in too far to be comfortable. The two inch is perfect. My only complaint is the eye watering chemical smell. I opened it and left it for two nights in the guest room to fully expand and air out. After a month on the bed it still smells. When I washed the sheets a week after putting it on the bed I unzipped the mattress protector, placed the foam directly on the mattress and zipped it up. After washing the mattress pad, because it absorbed the chemical smell from the foam, I made the bed. Despite all that, over a month later, it still smells. Granted the smell is much less now. When summer arrives I'm going to take the foam off and let it air out in the garage until the chemical smell is reduced much further. From what I hear most, if not all, memory foam toppers and mattresses do have some level of smell for a period of time. The question is...... how long does it take for the smell to become almost unnoticeable? Would I buy it again? Yes. However I'd buy it during the summer so it can air out for a week or two before sleeping on it. Heck I may even place plywood under and on top of it and drive the truck on and off multiple times to force air in and out. ... show more

  • Not bad, just not as good as others.
I bought this to replace another 3" topper from another major seller on Amazon and here are the things that are immediately apparent. The previous topper was 3lb density foam. With them side by side, the Amazon product is significantly less dense. This doesn't necessarily make it uncomfortable by any means, but its good to know if this is important to you and might be a plus if your of a slighter frame. Secondly, the smell. I see many reviews staying that there is no odor and perhaps I received an odd production run. I'm not one of these "I'm sensitive to smells" kinda of people, but good god does it stink and I have put up with sleeping in some smelly places. I'm sitting here writing this while letting it off-gas a second time while washing the linens for a second time this week. This is the first out of 4 toppers I've had for various beds that would saturate anything in its close proximity with, including pillows, with such an intense smell that seems to permeate all layers of your sinuses. I would say the comfort is good, but that's always subjective. Foam type comfort seems to be correlated to size alot, so if its helps I'm 250lbs and 6ft. Lastly, heat. Seems to have same or slightly or better or same heat dissipation as the other various toppers I've tried. I' pretty amused by the people who say "didn't make my bed cooler". Foam is inherently an insulator which has small air bubbles trapped inside them so heat energy can't flow through them. All foam beds or toppers are inherently bad at dissipating heat. The addition of ventilation holes or gel is not designed to make it cooler than your mattress, floor, mound of straw, hammock, pile of leaves, or whatever you sleep on. It's just to make it cooler than sleeping on a 3 inch slab of some other insulator that doesn't have those features. ... show more

  • 3+ lb Density, Slightly too thick of padding
I purchased this to help with back pain, for months I've been unable to sleep in our King size bed. My husband and I were both complaining of a sore back and hips upon waking up. I'm a side sleeper and about 4.5 months pregnant now, but even before that I had bad hip pain that would leave me aching all the time. We finally said - enough is enough! I splurged and ordered this topper and I do not regret it!!! Great to sleep on! The smell was not bad at all, with little to no chemical smell(and I have a sensitivity to smells currently). It poofed up within an hour, if that. It came wrapped in plastic that you must remove once you unroll it onto the bed, unlike other reviews there was NO DAMAGE to our topper, it was in perfect memory foam condition and did weigh about 30+ lbs. Because of its density and weight it doesn't shift very much, which is much appreciated compared to cheaper toppers that fold and move as you change sleeping positions. Our back pain/hip pain is almost completely gone now. It has been 2 full weeks of sleeping on this mattress topper and so far the only complaint I have is that it could be slightly firmer, or maybe 1" shorter in depth so there isn't as much to sink into, and you will sink into it slightly. For reference, I'm 160 lbs 5'4" 4.5 months pregnant and 25 years old, my husband is 210 lbs, 6'2" and 32 years old and we both sleep comfortably on this king sized topper. ... show more
