I waited about a month to write this review so I could test out the matress and make sure that it was a good fit and leave an honest review. So far it is good. We let it sit for about 72 hours after unboxing it. Probably could have slept on it sooner, but thats just how our plans worked out. My husband and I are both plus size people and this mattress works great for us. The matress was a lityle to stiff and firm the first night our two but after that was just fine. We do not feel each other's movements. It keeps its shap and firmness. It did smell a little plastic like for about a day but being vacuum sealed will do that. The material seems like it might rip or tear easily. Thats the one draw back I have seen, however I solved this by using a mattress cover to protect it. It is a true king size mattress. It fits me (5'9 295 pounds), my husband (6'0 420 pounds) our 3 cats and our two 50 pound dogs. Comfortablely. ... show more

I’ve been sleeping on this for a week and I’m very happy with it. It’s honestly just as comfortable as my previous mattress that cost thousands of dollars. It’s firm but with enough cushion on top to make it feel cozy and supportive. I sink in just enough to feel comfortable. I did let it air out for 3 days before sleeping on it per instructions and it did initially have a plastic smell but that was gone within the 3 days. I would definitely recommend this mattress. Great mattress for the price. This is the second one I have purchased. They expand quickly and are really durable.     • Important insights on Firmness, Quality, and Wear after 1 Year
Purchased the King, 12 inch mattress in Medium firmness approximately 1 year ago, and here are my insights: This is a great mattress for the price! This sucker is HEAVY, so you better have two people to move it and arrange it when the mattress arrives. Give it the full 48 hours to expand... when we unwrapped it, it did have a strong chemical smell to it, but we gave it the 48 hour recommended time to expand before using it, and the smell dissipated on its own without any extra work. I do NOT love a firm bed, and I feel this mattress is a little more firm than I expected it to be as a Medium (that's why the 4 stars instead of 5). That said, it is still very comfortable and I get a good nights sleep. It wasn't overly firm enough for me to go trough the hassle to return it, and honestly, if my mattress were to catch fire tomorrow and I needed to purchase a new one, I would probably buy this again, because I know it's comfortable and the quality is great. A year later of my husband and I laying in the same spots hasn't led to any breakdown or denting in the mattress. I do HIGHLY recommend a bug-proof and waterproof cover for it, I added one the first night after the 48 hour expansion period was over, and it has zero stains or wear, and still looks and feels brand new after 365 days of 2 adults and 2 dogs sleeping on it every night. ... show more

    • Started off great, but unfortunately didn’t hold up even 8 months
When we first got this mattress, we really liked it and were very happy with the comfort and support. Unfortunately, after only about 8 months of use, we’re noticing significant breakdown where we sleep. (We have a King mattress.) The middle of the mattress, where no one sleeps, is noticeably firmer than the areas we use. Although looking at the mattress you do not see dips, but unfortunately, you definitely feel them. For the last couple of months, I’ve also been experiencing hip and back issues. After seeing a chiropractor, it was suggested that the breakdown in support from the mattress could be contributing and that it may be time to consider replacing it. We have only had it for 8 months. We regularly rotate the mattress every two weeks, but unfortunately, it can only be rotated and not flipped. At this point, the support has clearly broken down in the areas where we sleep. I understand that this mattress is on the lower end of the price range, but we have purchased other lower-cost mattresses in the past that lasted 3–4 years without this kind of breakdown. This mattress was actually a little more expensive than the ones we previously purchased, so we had hoped and expected it would last longer. We love this mattress! Not too firm and not too soft. Came well packaged and was very easy to unpack and let sit for a few days so it could get to its full size. You’d never know it was vacuum packed in a box and has no weird smells either. Great price as well! Only complaint is the mattress cover wrinkles up a bit, but I only notice it when I see it, never when I’m sleeping. ... show more

    • Body aches are less upon waking
I did alot of research prior to buying this mattress. I had a previous Zinus mattress that was good for about 5 years until I started waking up with worse body aches than I had the night before. I discovered in a Reddit thread that the Amazon basic mattress is made by Brooklyn Bedding, a very reputable company. I have slept on this mattress for 4 nights now and I am not waking up with body aches. The cooling affect is minimal but I'm menopausal and I do think my night sweats have lessened some. This mattress is much firmer than I was expecting but I think that works for me. I let it expand in the floor for about 48 hours and then on the bed frame for another 12, I think the 48 hours would have been enough. I have a metal bed frame with slats and I did add a bunkie board underneath for even more support. As of now, I am very pleased with this mattress. If that changes, I will update. It did have a slight smell when we unboxed it but that seems to have went away or I got used to it. My husband and I are fairly short people. I'm 5'3 and he's 5'5. I'm about 170 and he's 185.
