  • went from 90 c to 70 c or less on demanding games. much cooler
It looks cool too.

  • Good for budget PC builds, but incomplete instructions for LGA1700
This is a nice, basic cooler for entry-level to mid-range CPUs. It's an improvement over the stock heatsinks that come with those chips, while still being compact enough for smaller PC cases. It works with recent AMD and Intel systems, but the manual skips a key step for LGA1700 installs (more on that below). The heatsink uses a tried-and-true tower design with four heat pipes, and build quality is good. The 92mm fan is mounted with large plastic clips that are easy to attach and remove. The fan runs quietly even at full speed, and it has RGB lights for a little pizazz. You can connect the lighting to your motherboard (4-pin, 12V), or run it from the bundled dongle. The RGB controller provides a modest selection of modes and speeds, but I wish it used SATA power instead of the outdated Molex connector. Installation is straightforward, but the manual is more pictures than words, so it helps to have familiarity with the process. Mounting on AMD boards is easiest, as the cooler attaches to existing hardware. Intel mounts are slightly more involved: If the motherboard is LGA1700 (vs. LGA1200/115X), the heatsink brackets and backplate must be set to their wider positions. Unfortunately, the instructions omit the necessary step for the brackets, so their screws won't line up properly for mounting. To fix this, you need to move each of the spring-loaded screws(4x): Pull upward on the screw’s head, slide to the outer position, and release. Hopefully, Amazon Basics will update the manual to include the missing step. It's something that experienced builders might already know to do, but others may find to be a stumbling block. I'm otherwise happy with this CPU cooler, as it offers a solid combination of value and performance for everyday computing to moderate gaming. ... show more

  • Better than the stock cooler
I was curious how good an amazon basics pc component would perform and like majority of Amazon Basics products- no nonsense and fuctional. Awesome value. It utilizes stock mounts and fits many sockets. Its advertised as running cooler master tech- I didn't see any logos, but the fan is solid- can get a tad loud under load, but very adequate cooling for any air cooled pc builds. ... show more

  • Good Cooler For Non-Gaming Systems
Hooked it up to a test board that I have and it fired right up. Very quiet at idle, although higher speeds were not tested, nor did my test board have an RGB header to test that function. As you can see in the pics below, this (92mm) cooler is quite a bit smaller, and thus less capable, compared to a 120mm cooler or water cooling, but should prove to be superior to most stock coolers. For internet surfing, mild gaming, and general use, this is a fine choice. Included is the normal installation hardware that one finds with most coolers nowadays, with adapters for the various AMD and Intel platforms, and this smaller size should be compatible with most cases and setups. • It's basic
Definitely a slight upgrade from a stock CPU cooler. Looks decent and was easy enough to install.

  • Better Than Stock
This is better than the standard fan that comes with most CPUs. That's pretty much it. You can get better cooling solutions for a similar price or slightly more. The actual bottom of the CPU cooler doesn't seem to be quite as smooth as it should be. Another cooler I'm reviewing is much, much smoother and costs almost the same. This only matters when you're trying to have the full surface of the cooler touch your CPU… which is kind of the entire purpose of having a CPU cooler. Also, the fan is a 90mm RGB, not ARGB, so a 4 pin RGB connector is needed and again, other options have ARGB fans (and standard 120mm or 140mm sizes as well) at the same price point. On my 5800x3d, idle/load is usually 39c/70c with an AIO liquid cooler, and this air cooler was 47c/82c. It is better than what usually comes with a CPU though (52c/89c) so keep that in mind. If you don't have much room in your case, this might be a decent budget solution. ... show more

  • not for very hot CPUs
This cooler was reasonably easy to install, and clears the RAM modules. While it's better than the out of the box fan, it's not a high end cooler. Doesn't make great contact with the CPU, so heat doesn't dissipate efficiently. Runs a couple of degrees cooler than the out of the box cooler in normal use, still lets the temp creep up under heavy use. ... show more

  • Does the job and can actually fit in my case without issue.
Has everything you need including thermal paste and appropriate motherboard processor hardware. Its 12V RGB not ARGB. The best thing is it has a lower height than my other one which was too big to even close my side panel. Picture above to show height comparison. Even includes a small control module for changing colors in case your MOBO does not have the 4 pin connector. Much better than a stock cpu fan. As far as air cooling, this is great. ... show more
