Cost was $40 and Im happy with the purchase. Clean black paint (i expect will chip away with use) Nice looking chrome...threads are good. Im surprised at how much i like the carrying case. One review showed it all smashed. Mine is in great shape and stronger than expected. everything fits in it nicely. AND! as an added bonus, this case will be used as an adjustable kettlebell weight. handle is well enough, it stands 17'' tall. Love the dumbbell kit, it even comes with a case. However, the case is its weak point as it is plastic and the clips used to close the case are not strong enough to remain closed, especially when moving the case. To assist the weak clips, I purchased a set of "Masterwise Lashing Straps with Cam Buckles, Cinch Strap with Adjustable Buckle Tie Down Straps". I was looking for an inexpensive weight set that I wouldn’t feel guilty storing outside as I have limited space. These are perfect. Surprisingly compact with a carrying case that means I may have room to store them inside after all. I like that the weight plates are separate so I can use them separately or on a barbell if I want. I bought these to be able to have some adjustable weights at home. They are perfect. I love the idea of having adjustable weights rather than many dumbbells. Quick to take off and add weight. They never come loose even when maxing them. They are accurately weighted too.

Well worth the $40 delivered. I got the CAP 1" hole 10lb plates to go with it for $9 each on sale. Now I can have each bar at 20, 26, 30, or 33lb. Good for scoping the guns at the office.

    • Great dumbells for the price point - need more plates
I bought these after getting so fed up with my Sport Blocks that I wanted to throw them across the room. After using them for a few weeks, I'm happy with their function, and I'm only disappointed by the lack of extra plates to extend their weight range. The whole set is metal-- not plastic or coated or weirdly fake-feeling. So you feel like you're actually lifting metal (which you are). The shiny finish on the plates might wear off some, but I don't mind. Adding and removing plates with the screw-nut is smooth and easy and doesn't take too much time during my workout. The nut threads easily and is easy to spin on with your finger. The little rubber gaskets will probably wear out and fall off, but since everything is metal, the gaskets are nice, but not necessary. As others have noted, the grips are a little rough on the hands. I wear lifting gloves, but fingertips (and feet if you're using them for leg stuff) feel the sharp edges. I hope that will eventually wear down. The max weight you can get from the set is 17.5 per dumbell if you're using both, or 32.5 on one. I'd like to find additional 5lb plates so that I could theoretically get up to 42.5 on each. Not that I need that much now, but I have found myself wanting more than 17.5 when using both, and I would imagine that any 5lb plate with that diameter could work. Lastly, the case. Don't get these for the case. I'm sure it would work fine if I wanted to put everything away to store it, but it's much easier to keep them assembled and set them on the floor. ... show more
