A Knipex it is not (see pics), but for the price, an excellent option for a newbie to cobra/alligator-type pliers. Also great for on-site, field tool bags where you don't want you best tools in such abusive jobsites. Almost as good, usually all you need. Quality is good, steel seems tough, and functions as expected. Scored well on several tool test sites as well. Compared to a Knipex (in pics), the jaw opening is lacking, and the grip by the teeth is not as firm, but nothing that can't be accommodated. ... show more

I have both and although the quality is better on the knipex, i feel like these are better to beat on economically. I have a set of tongue and grove from channellock grip lock and i prefer those for most of my plumbing needs. The teeth are larger and dont wear as quickly. These and the knipex are for times when you wanna minimize marring and the fine range of adjustment is important. These hold up ok for lite duty fittings. So for the price and what i intend to use them for i cant complain. ... show more

So, about 50 years ago, I was walking along Route 304 to my friends house from school and found a pair of pliers. I had them since and they were probably my most used tool as I grabbed them for something almost every day. Well, a couple of months ago, I couldn't find them and while (slightly ) devastated, I knew I needed to replace them and decided to invest in this set. It's niche that there are three sizes and for the price, are very good. I's sure there are others out there that are finished a bit better, but the jaws on these are good, they look like they'll last, and the price was reasonable. I use these often, and hope I'll find my 50+ year old trusty pliers (hopefully, I didn't drop them in the recycling bin) but until I do, I'm happy using these. ... show more

For a really cheap set of water pump pliers these are decent but, they are not heavy duty. The metal can round and lose it's grip on really hard tasks and the fit is really loose on all of them. It does come with 3 different sizes so that is nice and the sliding lock mechanism is similar to the knipex design so it stays locked very well. Overall if you're looking for a cheap set of decent pliers to use in a situation where you wouldn't cry if they were lost, stolen, or broken these aren't bad but if you want something that will do a lot more and last longer then I would just get the knipex pliers or the Doyle pliers from harbor freight. ... show more
