  • Works fine but doesn't hold up to the advertised battery life and...
Style: GTR 42mm Color: Starry Black
This watch seems to work as advertised but there are a few drawbacks you should be aware of. And I eventually ended up returning it. First, the display is great. Unless you're outside in the sun. Then good luck. The only type of screen that works good in bright light is the LCD screens (like on the Bip). Also, the round display limits the amount of data you can see. A rectangular screen is much more desired (like on the Bip or Apple Watch). My watch failed a few times... First, it just shut down. No warning. Just turned off. Also, it started to randomally vibrate. But when it starts, it vibrates for about a second and then about 30 seconds and it does it again. This occurred over and over until I rebooted the watch. Then it stopped. I couldn't get it to consistently vibrate when I had phone notifications that were enabled to send to the watch. This caused me to keep checking my phone for missed notifications. Not what I was looking for The show stopper... The lugs for the watch band angle downward and are hollow on the back. For people that have skinny wrists (why I got the 42mm), the hollow lug is like a sharp piece of metal that pressed against by wrist bone until it was always sore. I was considering grinding this down but because it was hollow, that wouldn't have helped. I almost always cross my arms when watching TV and I ended up having to cross my arms the other way (try this once. Super annoying) so my wrist bone didn't hurt. I ended up returning it and getting the Bip. The Bip has almost all the same features, a longer battery and seems like it works better. I wish I had a better review but the negatives for this watch outweighed the positives. ... show more

  • Great watch - be a Boss
Style: GTR 42mm Color: Starry Black
I shopped a lot before buying and wanted a. longest possible battery life & b. classic watch look. The GTR comes through for both. I waited for the 42mm to be available to accommodate my teeny wrists (I’m 6’0” 200lb but you wouldn’t believe the diminutive nature of my wrists. It’s crazy. Like a SNL skit.) I’m getting an easy 5-7 days battery with workouts/GPS use during that time and I change the watch face 2-3x per week. Plenty of great faces to choose from and has all the functionality I require. I’m very pleased with this watch. Solid build/feel, easy set up and use. I’d give it 5 stars but I’m pretty frugal with those. Edit: five stars it is!! They just added the option to upload a photo for your watch face!! ... show more

  • Got it for the AMOLED display
Style: GTR 42mm Color: Starry Black
I'm coming from the Garmin Vivoactive 3. I wanted an AMOLED display so I picked up the new Garmin Venu. It had the same multiple issues as the V3 and the watchfaces were poor. Even at the Black Friday price, It also cost twice what the GTR cost. Much better watch faces on the GTR. Battery life is about the same as the V3 (4 days) without GPS. The app is sparse which would be a deal breaker if I didn't already have a dedicated bike head unit. Like the V3, the GTR is an activity tracker and not a smartwatch. That's OK with me but don't buy this thinking it's an alternative to a smartwatch. The GTR has already crashed. I had to do a factory reset twice to bring it back. Hope that was just a one time hiccup. 2/28/20 Update. The battery life has improved. I'm now getting a 8/9 days without GPS. After the initial crash, no further problems. ... show more

  • AmazeFit app issues relating to non metric countries.
Style: GTR 42mm Color: Starry Black
Due to not reading carefully, I tried to use the MiFit app that I'd used on my AmazeFit Bip. After 4 hours I discovered that to use watch had to install the AmazeFit app. Documentation supplied by manufacturer is sparse to say the least. Watch seems to be a useful upgrade over AmazeFit Bip. But getting it to work was overly complicated. Hence 4 stars. June 2020 update: Earlier in month, watch froze while I was going through all it's functions. Had to unpair and re-pair to get it to work again. But weather app which previously worked well could not get weather information and AmazeFit app instructions to fix didn't work. So I used the customer experience function to inform developer of the problem. Whether it was a result of my complaint or not, about a week later the AmazeFit app updated itself and watch's firmware. Once that occurred, weather function worked again. This was the second time I'd used the customer experience function to report a problem with the AmazeFit app. Previously, while the weather app functioned, it reported temperatures in centigrade with no way to switch to Fahrenheit for U.S users. About a week later, the AmazeFit app updated itself and the firmware and added the option to select Fahrenheit in the weather app. Developer seems to "fix" usability issues quickly, but for an item that is sold worldwide, purchasers in non-metric countries should not have had to point out that Imperial units were not available options throughout all the AmazeFit app's functions. Thus, still four stars. That said, I really like the watch. ... show more

  • 3 MONTHS OLD, no more movement tracking!
Style: GTR 42mm Color: Starry Black
IT worked great, until it broke just over 90 days old! The movement tracking no longer works, you physically have to push the button to see any type of response for anything. This would be fine if I wan't physically disabled and had the use of 2 hands. Unfortunately, after a stroke, the one hand that works any longer (the one wearing the watch) I've contacted Amazfit for tech support and they only sent me a nice outdated auto-response email. BE WARNED, if you buy something with no tech support, you'll learn the hard way. Amazon want's nothing to do with you, after your initial purchase warranty, and evidently if Amazfit actually gets back to me someday, at some point, I can look forward to sending my watch off for a few months for potential service or repair? We shall see? ... show more

  • Luxury looking but not fully fledged smartwatch
Style: GTR 42mm Color: Starry Black
Great looking luxury smartwatch with excellent battery life and fitness tracking. The display is amazing and very bright to easily see in daylight. App is easily to use and was easy to pair the watch to my phone. Lots of watchfaces to choose from. No third party app support or Alexa integrated like other Amazfit watches, so not a fully fledged smartwatch to me. ... show more
