The Amana brand has been around for a while, I grew up around their appliances and I know for a fact that have well made products. The AC unit is smooth and comes with some programmable features that you'll find in more expensive units. Installation was simple with some easy to follow instructions included for the not so handy peeps. my latest latest review of this air conditioner: Junk doesn't last. I bought the 3 brands listed below and assessed them in the review below as Amana being the best of the three for the reasons described below, which didn't include longevity. Now that I have experience with the longevity of the 3 different brands, I can definitively say that Amana is by far the worst because the first one I bought, the Toshiba, is still blowing just as cold as it ever did and not icing up, years after I bought them. Furthermore, The Toshiba is mounted in a location that is far more hostile to it's proper operation, in a window connected to my porch with a roof over it, while these sucky Amanas are mounted in windows out in the open and consequently are surrounded by much cooler open air than the Toshiba is on the sweltering screened porch that it's hot exhaust blows into. In other words, one would expect, under such conditions for the Toshiba to wear out first and start icing up. but this Amana, bought only about a year ago long after the Toshiba, is barely blowing cold anymore and icing up all the time. The other 8k Amana, bought at the same time started icing up and not cooling well about 4 months ago. so now I need to replace both Amanas which aren't even that old and I will do so with Toshibas from Home Depot if they still have them. Old Review: This Amana is much quieter with a better display, with more robust & remote, display and seals better in the window than the other two brands I have, which are Midea and Toshiba. Midea is the worst, being the loudest with the worst display and remote and the most air leaks around it. ... show more

I'm keeping cool with this A/C. I like the feature of "Dry Cool" which means the A/C turns on and off based on the temp you set. I like the "timer" feature as well. I leave for work early but on a hot day I want the AC to be on only during the hottest part of the day. So I set it to turn on six hours after I leave and when I get home, the house is cool but the AC didn't have to run for hours unnecessarily ... show more

I have this in my bedroom. It’s very quiet. Installation was a breeze. Now, what everyone wants to know is if this thing gets cold enough due to the small size. August in south Arkansas and I didn’t realize my husband turned it to Arctic temp mode. I literally had to layer clothes to be able to sleep because it was just that cold.
