The quality of this picture frame is far superior to the Nixplay frames we have. The functions are great (comparable to Nixplay ) and their online support is excellent. We purchased the 19” so its size is top of the market. Great value for the price. We loaded our wedding pictures on the local 64g device and tested uploading files from our iPhone which worked great (just as a test). Update January 2025: Notice the 19” Frame is no longer available. There’s a bug in their app. When our home power goes out for 10 seconds ( we have a whole house generator), the frame loses all its settings such as date and time. This throws off the time it starts and turns off. The remote also stopped working. Compared to Nixplay, the settings on this frame cannot be controlled from your phone. You most can push files to the frame.

The Aluratek 17.3" photo frame is designed with built-in WiFi, a feature that many will use, except for myself. However, using just the USB input with a 32GB USB stick with about 11,000 photos of various sizes and origin (scanned, iPhone, and Lumix or Nikon digital cameras) works just fine. However, I nearly would deduct at least 1/2 star, because of the 'spotty' instruction manual, which devoted to setting up a smart phone to pair with the digital frame, but leaves out all other information as to how to get a simple USB stick to function. The menus are not self-explanatory, so I had to fiddle with them at length, while still wondering how to have the device recognize the USB stick. Then it dawned on me to simply think of it as a computer; power it up and insert the USB. Voila! The photos were there! After nearly 40 minutes of puttying around, it finally was operational. A hidden and unmentioned feature: Because it has a touch screen, one can swipe backward and forward on screen to review the photos that have been shown. To pause a photo, simply touch it on the screen. These features should be documented in the instructions. A small criticism. All in all, the screen itself is very high quality with bright and sharp reproduction of all photos from those aforementioned sources. And if a photo does not fit the screen, there is an opaque vignette on the sides that compliment the photo being viewed. That is a very nice touch by the hardware programmers. I am very pleased with this purchase. Recommended for serious digital photo viewing in a variety of random transitions from one to the next randomized photo. Really nice!

UPDATE: You can only add a few pictures at a time to upload. If you choose too many pictures it won’t send them to the frame using the app. My bad. Changing my rating to 4 stars. ORIGINAL: At first I loved it but now any pictures I send through the app will not display on my frame. I have reset it, turned it off and unplugged it. I go into the app it tells me to download and crate an account and start uploading photos. The first 10 worked but now nothing comes through on the frame. I have another Aluratek frame that uses the Frametime app and it’s wonderful. This one uses the Aluratek smart frame app and it’s absolutely terrible. This frame is useless to me now. I do not recommend.

I bought this frame brand new for my husband for Christmas and paid close to $250.00 with tax. Probably the largest and most expensive frame available on Amazon. My first clue there was a problem was when in setting it up there was already a USER registered on the frame which meant it was owned by someone else at some point in time, in other words it was USED, I should have returned it then! The Aluratek HELP desk was very helpful resetting the frame which removed the prior OWNER / USER. I then got it set up, loaded my photos onto a flash drive and was so excited becuase the frame showed my collection of photos beautifully! The second problem arrived when the frame shut down after running for about 2 days. I tried different wall outlets and got a new USB drive, it would run for about 48 hours and then shut down again! I called the Aluratek help desk again and they recommended I try different wall outlets and a new USB, I mentioned I had done that but did it again. They agreed to take it back and asked I email a copy of the original receipt to with an explanation of the problem and they would send me a new on, I accepted their offer. The next day I got a reply email asking me to check the power cord and a new USB, been there done that and I had explained that to them in my original email. Their response was I should take it to a electronics repair shop and have them check the cord etc. I said they had already agreed to replace it, they said to send it to them at my expense and they would try to fix it and if they could not would then send me a new one. I told them after 6 phone calls starting on Dec. 28th and 3 emails I found this unacceptable. I then opted to call Amazon ( I was now 14 days past the 30 day return window, 45 days after I ordered it). I spoke to a delightful person at Amazon and explained the entire process with Aluratek and they agreed to take it back, less the restocking fee, but gave me a $45.00 credit on a future puchase to cover that, I broke even! Thank you Amazon for your support, I will forever be a customer of yours but never buy another Aluratek product!!!!

Purchased for elderly great-grand parents, who love it. We almost kept it for ourselves. Great 17" picture quality, virtually unlimited photo capacity (e.g. 2 mb jpegs), handles large jpegs (e.g. 10 mb), cool extra features (calendar, weather, clock, etc.), mostly easy to use - especially if you're a Millenial, easy to email photos to the frame. Cons: documentation difficult to understand - best to just click on everything, tech support insufficient at best, can't play videos together with stills, sound volume not great, frame's kick-stand insufficient & not adjustable, only works in landscape orientation (no big deal), Mac OS interface terrible. All things considered, including price, this is a "no-brainer" purchase.
