This was received to replace the "Plastic" Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing that is attached to a metal intake. The problem that occurs is that Metal and Plastic expand and contract at a different rate which causes the gaskets to tear and leak. This is an exact fit to the original, so installation is easy and straightforward. This is not an expensive item to install so preventive care is great thing to do here. This went on a 2013 Jeep JK Rubicon 3.6L Pentastar engine 60K miles.

Made in China. The casting initially looked solid out of the box, but upon closer inspection (as seen in the pictures), the casting between the thermostat housing and the upper radiator hose pipe has a crack in the casting that penetrates through the entire pipe wall. The thermostat house would fit the vehicle just fine, but I would never install it regardless of the price. The wall would eventually leak through and/or fully break after very little use. The thermostat itself is stamped with "82°C" (179.6°F). Additionally, the inside of the housing had trace amounts of aluminum and silica residue from the casting and cleaning process that would have been introduced to the cooling system of the vehicle had this been installed on the Jeep.

Dorman first introduced an aluminum replacement for the OEM plastic part. It was warmly received though much more expensive than this recent clone. Like the Dorman product, this one is of highly polished cast aluminum. Clearly stronger than the original, at this price it’s a no brainer for replacement if a new thermostat is called for. The stock unit is not prone to failure, so I wouldn’t bother with replacing it unless you have some other reason to open the coolant system. Fits perfectly on my 2015 Rubicon.

Fit my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the v6. Was a simple install which is well documented on YouTube. The quality is much nicer than the stock plastic part. The aluminum is polished, it comes with the rubber seal which fits in place well. This resolved my P0128 error code causing a check engine light. Super simple fix, save some money and fix it yourself!

This bolted right in after putting the correct thermostat for our vehicle in it. The aluminum is a good upgrade from the original plastic. ***Update... got it installed and it's cracked and unusable***
