Functionality: At this time, GoPro doesn't sell a battery/MicroSD cover that allows USB charging while closed. Understandably, GoPro's cover/door provides waterproofing and this does not. For uses other than those which involve moisture, extended battery life beyond the great battery life already provided by the Enduro battery, a cover like this allows the user to keep the Max connected to an external power source. Not everyday, but occasionally. Build quality: Very sturdy aluminum and it fits perfectly, although other commenters have mentioned difficulty in attaching and bad fit. Yes, it takes a little fiddling to attach the door the first time, but the videos in other reviews prepared me for that. It took about 90 seconds to complete the process. The fit is perfect. Trust me, you need a little patience, but it's worth it. I commend the manufacturer for designing this accessory, fabricating it from aluminum, and devising a way to attach it to a GoPro Max at all. The market for a second door just to keep a USB cable attached is mall. If you want this functionality, it's a good product. I would also suggest letting someone with small fingers install this. Value for money: You simply can't beat the price. How these items can be manufactured and arrive at my door for the price paid with anyone even making a penny of profit is beyond me. Sturdiness: Only on for a day, but it's solid aluminium and I expect this will be my permanent cover as I don't plan to take this Max 360 underwater. I've got my Hero 13 Black for that.

Given the difficulty others have written about here, I was expecting this to be hard, but it took 3 seconds to swap the original door for this door on my GoPro Max (original). I think the key was to extend the door hinge (it pulls out a little) and then affix it to the Max with the door sticking out, not parallel like when it's closed. It snapped on easily and feels high-quality and secure. Glad to be able to easily charge the camera in my bag between stops, directly on the camera. Great purchase!

A bit tricky to install unless the cover on the camera is already loose. This cover is easy to install and fits as described for the compatible camera. It allows me to pass power through the case for extended timelapse and super long battery life. Definitely not waterproof anymore.

We should not have to come back to our Amazon order to figure out how to use a product. I knew it had to extend to work and still I couldn't get it. I came back here ready to leave a scathing review and return it. Then I read other reviews and figured it out. That is what I call a bad customer experience. The product itself works great, this is the only flaw. The product needs a small 2 image instruction sheet that instructs you to forcefully extend the latch portion and then you have to aggressively keep it extended while you forcefully snap it in place. Forcefully and aggressively are actions we have been trained not to do with our expensive toys. Also if we break it, we assume you will not issue a refund, so we return an otherwise good product and you loose money.
