I picked up this aluminum 1.5" ball mount to use with my Garmin Striker 4 on my kayak, and it's been a great upgrade from the plastic mounts I was using before. The aluminum construction is solid and gives me confidence it’ll hold up over time, especially in wet, bumpy conditions. It fits perfectly with the RAM C size components and locks in nice and tight without slipping. The T-bolt makes mounting to the kayak track system super easy—no drilling or weird modifications needed. I also like that it comes with both the round plate and mounting hardware, so I had everything I needed to get it set up. The 1.5" ball size gives a good range of motion and holds its position even when I hit a bit of chop.     • Solid hardware
This ball mount is very sturdy. The fit and finish are very good. The clamp and flanges are aluminum and the ball itself is molded hard rubber (over the aluminum base). The clamping action is excellent, you can adjust the tension so that you can fine tune the position before clamping it down fully. Once tightened, it is very rigid. The mounting flanges are thick enough to use strong fasteners. The ball measures about 1-15/32 which I guess is normal for the molding process. One of the best features is the single spring on one side of the tightening bolt. It causes the clamp to tighten down one end before the other so you only have to manage one end at a time while assembling. You can loosen one end enough to remove the ball and the clamp still holds on to the other ball end. Excellent value for the $40 price at the time of this review. ... show more

This mount is larger than it looks on screen. It's built like a tank, is strong as a horse, is flexible in its placement yet stays in place once you decide it orientation. Best of all, it fits my YakAttack mounting plate beautifully.

    • Heavy duty aluminum ball mount
This aluminum ball mount is heavy duty. I have a Garmin Echomap chart plotter and have been using a 1.5" ball mount and arm that have plastic bases. There is some play in the plastic bases at each end, so it wobbles a bit more than I'd like. This all aluminum ball mount and arm are thicker and heavier than my other ball mount and there zero play at either end when tightened. The ball mount was easy to mount to my canoe yoke using 1/4 bolts. There is also a third ball mount with a tee nut for slotted track mounts. The build quality of this mount is nice. It works well with all the other one and a half inch ball mounts I have in my boat. I was having trouble with the one inch mount on my fish finder not holding but I don't have that problem with this. The price is right and the fit and finish are excellent.

The media could not be loaded. I ordered this aluminum ball mount to install a Humminbird Helix 5 on my Lund Alaskan. This mount stood out as a good choice for me because of its all-aluminum construction and compatibility with track mounting systems. My Lund Alaskan has the Lund Sport Track System; the T mount feature on this ball mount did not initially work on my Lund, the T mount was too wide. With a little work, I was able to file down the T mount enough so that it fits in the Lund Sport Track System, and now it works perfectly. The design and construction of this ball mount is fantastic; I love how heavy duty it is. This mount is also easy to adjust, it holds my Humminbird Helix 5 in place like I need. This aluminum ball mount has exceeded my expectations; it is far superior to polymer ball mounts that I have considered, and I would order this one again. ... show more
