This is a high quality mount that works very well. It is secure and stays put however you position it, provided, of course, you tighten the knobs appropriately. It was easy to install with the pre-drilled holes matching my Garmin Striker base perfectly. It's very easy to get everything in place when your ready to use it. Just loosen the knob enough to fit over the ball, then tighten it down. It has a spring inside that holds onto the ball at one end. So, you only have to deal with one end at a time. The spring also holds it open making it easy to get on. At the end of the day, just loosen the lower knob, and the whole thing comes right off. I like the extra arm to give it more flexibility in positioning but, more importantly for me, it adds height. The Striker has a somewhat small screen and my eyes are starting to feel their age. I do my navigation and fish finding with a larger unit at the helm. But I have the Striker mounted on the bow for reference when I'm up front fishing. This mount gets it up where I can see it without having to bend over. There is a pic attached that shows my view when standing on the casting platform. I do lay it down when I'm running. Not that I'm worried about the mount, but the unit doesn't attach all that securely to the Garmin base. It just snaps into the back and a wave coming over the bow could easily dislodge it. The extra length and second joint comes in handy here, as well. It puts it back far enough and behind some protection to stay out of harms way. I can loosen both joint and drop it down and behind the small bulkhead in front of the anchor locker. I couldn't ask for a better system if I had designed it my self. I am very happy to have this mount. It will make my fishing easier and more pleasant. ... show more

    • Very strong mount, great value
I think everybody knows this is a knock-off of a RAM-brand mount. I've owned RAM mounts for decades. They are great, but really expensive. This mount seems to be as strong as the original. They have one design change, which is that the balls are made of hard plastic instead of rubber. I might have originally expected that this would make them feel cheap, but I find that I like these better than the rubber balls. These can easily be tightened enough that they won't move. But unlike the mounts with hard rubber, these are easy to loosen a bit and make small adjustments. Witht the rubber ball mounts, the clamps deform the rubber a bit and then the mount can't be adjusted without either twisting hard until the grip comes loose and moves a big distance, or loosening the clamp until the whole mount is floppy. With this plastic ball, you can loosen until it's movable but will still stay in place on its own, then make small adjustments and clamp back down to stop movement. This particular kit is two medium-long clamps, two round AMPS bases, and a double ball. You could use it as one long double-arm mount, or use the pieces to make two single-arm mounts (with a couple more bases). All in all for the parts you get in this kit, for the price, it's a really sound value. I highly recommend. ... show more

High quality well-crafted aluminum ball mount with extended adjustable arm. The ball mount is easy to use, works well, fits, and grips well. We installed the ball mount on the bow of our boat for our fish finder. It fits our Lowrance fish finder well, and does not give, bounce, or loosen off when going across the water. Very sturdy well-made fish finder mount. I like the fact of the adjustable extended arm, because I can get it adjusted to the height, I want it to be and tighten the knob down and it stays where I put it. Works pretty well. Switched out one of the plates to hold a larger tablet, and even with that increase in weight it works pretty well. Standard ball size, 1.5" as listed is correct. Pretty easy to use and adjust, metal finish is pretty solid and feels durable, arm doesn't move or adjust on it's own when tightened down. ... show more

This arm was installed on a boat dash to hold a large display. The extended reach is perfect for adjusting angles while seated or standing. It is very solid and locks tightly once positioned. It connects securely to other components using a familiar ball joint system. After multiple adjustments over a few days, there was no sag or drift.
