  • Freezing snowy weather here. Brought inside immediately. Perfectly healthy.
It was snowing so hard when the plants were delivered. I figured that the plants would probably be fine if I brought them in as soon as the delivery person handed the box to me. There was a heat pack in the box, but that only helps during transit. A heat pack wouldn't help outside in 30° F. I listened for a notification on my security camera, and I kept checking my delivery status updates. The plants were perfectly healthy with no cold or shipping damage. The size on a couple of the plants were a little bigger than I thought they'd be. I knew they'd be really small plants in 2 inch pots. They were beautiful and colorful. I got two of the same kind of plant, but I really don't mind because I can combine them in one planter or put them in different planters in my house. As long as I don't get 3 or 4 of the same plant, then I'll be happy. The price is a great deal, so I mostly care that the plants are healthy and not damaged. I liked them so much that I bought 3 more packs of 12. I can gift some if I run out of room or get a lot of duplicates. I hope that the nursery does as good of a job of picking a variety of healthy plants and packing them safely as they did the first time. I hope UPS will be as careful with the plants as they were the first time. I will definitely bring in the plants right after the delivery driver walks up to my door with the package to help make sure that the plants survive the trip. This was my first time ordering from this company. I'm pleasantly surprised, so far. My second shipment of plants came. I made sure to be home and watch for notifications on my security camera for the UPS person. The UPS truck was still in front of my house when I opened my the door. It's freezing here, so I have almost no time before the plants get cold damaged on my porch. I got the plants right after they were put on my porch. They're all healthy and doing just as well as the first shipment of 12 plants from Altman. I got a few repeats from the first set, but that's okay to me because the plants are healthy. I'll use all the duplicates in one container to fill the container out. I have 2 more sets coming in a few days. They will probably get delivered together because I ordered them at the same time. I got my 3rd and 4th shipment at the same time. It was over 50°F today, so freezing wasn't a potential problem. The wind was so strong that my plants would have blown away if I didn't get the box handed to me by the UPS delivery person. That's why I made sure to watch for a notification from my security camera that a UPS truck pulled up. I got 3 kinds of plants that are totally new. The rest of the plants are duplicates of plants that I got in the 1st and 2nd shipment. While I hoped to get more plant varieties in 4 shipments, I don't mind much because they're healthy plants. I particularly wanted different kinds of peperomia, but I only got Ginny and obtusifolia. I really like those peperomia, but now I have a lot of them. I know the plants they put in the boxes depend on what's in season and what's available when they pack the boxes. That's one reason the price is low for 12 plants. I did get 2 philodendron birkins, so I can't complain. I want to put a few of the same kind in one pot, so I'll have a larger plant faster. I'll definitely give some of my tradescantia, monstera, and diffenbachia away because I now have too many. I'm still tempted to order more because I love getting a surprise. I'll wait a little while so I can hopefully get more different kinds of plants. It has been a great experience so far. ... show more

  • Healthy variety of plants
The plants arrived two days earlier than expected and were in great shape. There was a pretty good variety but a couple of duplicates. I received 2 inch plants, 5 peperomia, 1 spider plant, 1 begonia, 1 calathea, 1 philodendron, and 1 snow bush. 2 of the peperomia were nearly identical. I would have appreciated more variety, but I knew it would be a grab bag and overall the plants chosen were different in look (besides the 2 peperomia mentioned). Plants were bigger than expected considering a 2” pot! I really wish these came with labels - the QR code sends you to an app where you can scan to identify and I don’t want to download an app to hopefully correctly identify them and find out what I got. Overall, very happy with my purchase with only a couple of quibbles. ... show more

  • Good selection
Good value for the price (I paid $30). All 12 plants arrived alive. Some were a little damaged, but nothing too bad. I received 2 wandering dudes, a spider plant, 5 different kinds of peperomia, a begonia, a croton, a creeping fig, and a lemon lime philodendron. A little peperomia heavy, but still a nice variety and no repeats. A good size as well for 2 inch pots. I wanted some small plants for a couple terrariums. Not all of them will work with high humidity, but the rest I’ll just add to my plant collection and hope they grow. ... show more

  • Nice plants but not as nice as the first purchase I made. Two of the plants came in bad condition.
This is the second time I purchased these plants. The forest time they were great, all were alive and in good shape. This time two of the plants were alive but barely. The leaves on one were all black to the stalk and dead. The plant looks like it might still live but I’m not sure. The other plant was in bad condition and most of the leaves were gone. It’s a plant I know as a wandering Jew and is extremely hardy. The other plants were in good condition and I hope they do as well as my first purchase after I replant them. ... show more

  • 60-75% success rate
Update: I knocked this down a star due to the amount that died. However, customer service was responsive and stated they would send replacement. For folks who get drenched plants like I did- just repot them. I usually wait a little for them to acclimate but root rot was rampant. I’m going to write this review backwards. Takeaway: Nice for newer plant owners, but not worth it for seasoned plant parents. Pros: Packaging (nursery pots/holder, bamboo support, protective plastic), shipping time Neutrals: Soil, variety, quality/health, information provided Cons: Success rate, size, rarity, repetition Here comes the wordy part. I say this is better for newer plant owners because you get a *decent* variety to try out in your home (not all plants thrive in mine). Many of these plants are easily propagated as well, so they might be “savable” if you notice things turning south. I didn’t put value in the pros/cons list because I think it’s a good value for trying a plant out (especially the fast growers like wandering dudes, ivy, pothos, etc.) However, you can get a better value for like $1-$2 more (per plant) from buying a small plant from a place like Lowe’s that is established and much fuller, plus more options. I think it’s a bit obvious why this isn’t really meant for seasoned plant owners & other reviews mention it as well. Pretty common plants, only barely out of the cutting with roots phase for most, you don’t get to choose, and some don’t live or are DOA. Likely more reasons, but I personally bought these to gift more so than keep so I wasn’t expecting more than meets the eye. I purchased three of the 12pk with expectation that there would be repetition between the three packs of 12 (fuller plants for the gifts lol). Unfortunately, some plants occurred more frequent within the 12 pack itself. This isn’t a huge issue but 12 different plants (not just color variations) would be a lot nicer than duplicate plants. I understand with seasons it’s probably hard *not* to duplicate but I’m sure the reason many people buy 12 different plants is so they have .. 12 different plants. I was neutral on the soil because it seems okay as soil but it came drenched. I’m sure there’s a reason behind that but idk it gives me root rot fears. Especially because nearly all the leaves of the plants felt limp. My poor dieffenbachia’s (I’m assuming) came looking like cooked spinach lol. That is another thing. I think instead of linking the Greg app (which I used even before this and like it) there should be a menu of sorts with names and pictures at the bare minimum. Greg can be waaay off sometimes and it had no idea what my spinachbachia was due to the condition it’s in. This can set a new plant owner up for failure if they have no idea what it is they’re caring for. I mention size as a con only because some plants were quite leggy/bare/single. Just would expect a liiitle more. One last thing; the box I received had one tiny heat pack. I don’t know how heat packs work but that felt insufficient for below freezing weather, though I could be wrong! OH! Sorry, one more thing. Some of these plants are DRAMATIC like the nerve plant and the waffle plant .. they’ll look like they’re on deaths door if it’s slightly too dry *rolls eyes* but I only know that as someone who has owned these .. my mind keeps going to “breeds” of plants lol I can’t think of the word. Anyway, that might also set a newbie up for failure. I don’t want to be all negative, though. A majority of the plants I received seem to be in good health, minor damage from transport, great packaging on each plant, minimal duplication (nerve plants were my dupes), and I love the little nursery pots/tray they come with for my own propagation once these are repotted. I also enjoy that some of these plants I actually don’t have in my own collection, which is really nice. ... show more
