Description

The Aglaonema is an easy-to-grow houseplant with bold, colorful leaves; ideal for tabletops, desks, and shelves. It adds color and texture to any space making it excellent as home decor accent or for gift giving. Water when the top couple inches of the soil are dry (about once a week) and be sure all excess water drains away. If the container does not have holes, use approximately 1 cup of water, adjust as needed for your environment. Do not let the Aglaonema sit in water or overly soggy soil. The height at dispatch is approximately 14 inches tall, measured from the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant. The The Aglaonema is a slow grower depending on its environment and is hardy in USDA Zones 10-11. Give it a boost during the warm months of Spring and Summer with a general-purpose fertilizer that is formulated for house plants. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer package for the best use. When the plant out grows the current container, it is time to repot. To repot the plant, gently remove it from its current container and place it into a slightly larger container. Fill in any empty spaces with new and fresh soil and water thoroughly. Be aware of third-party sellers; other companies try to imitate our quality. There are no other authorized Costa Farms sellers. I’ve had this plant for a few months now and at first it was struggling: yellowing leaves, crispy ends, and very droopy. I decided to repot and discovered the roots had cages on them. I removed the root cage repotted in the “Foxfarm” potting soil and so far I’ve gotten a lot of new growth and it seems to be thriving. I keep my plant in a low light area and I typically water once a month with fertilizer since it doesn’t get much sun.     • Best way to buy a plant!
I ordered a red Chinese evergreen plant from Costas Farms, and everything was great! I decided to do the "kit" deal and ordered a white ceramic-looking pot with it. The plant is beautiful, colorful, and good-sized (12 inches tall and actually two plants in the pot); it came planted in a plastic pot that fits inside the white one I ordered with it. Everything was well-packaged including a heat bag to keep the plant warm during shipping. The tall slender box had a basic support structure in it to protect the plant during shipping. I AM SO PLEASED, and my new plant is very happy. I did drill a few holes in the bottom of the white pot, so I can set it in a dish to soak up water or drain extra. FABULOUS BUY for $32. ... show more

    • live plant needs better packaging to keep from freezing...leaves are dropping
I bought this plant as a gift for xmas, however it got too cold as leaves are dropping...suggest better insulating for the live plant to survive the winter temps...hoping the roots will keep the plant alive to grow new leaves...plants are resiliant...beautiful plant to give as a gift...

This plant arrived in pretty poor condition. Many of the leaves, particularly the newer growth, were already browning or already dead, and two smaller stems fell off immediately. The plant wasn't shipped until over a week after I bought it and I'm guessing it sat in a shipping box for that entire week. It was also completely wet so I had to let the plant dry out. After over a week of the plant not drying, I decided to check the root system. The roots looked pretty healthy, but the plant was badly rootbound. I shook loose the soil and found that not only was the soil it was planted in devoid of any aeration material (pumice or perlite, used to add drainage and oxygen to the potting mix - aglaonemas like to dry out between waterings and do not usually like to stay moist), but the plant was first put into a smaller 2.5" nursery pot, which the roots were exploding out of, and then into a larger 6" nursery pot. The smaller plastic pot can't even be cut away without destroying the root system. I will be shocked if this plant lives longer than a few months. The picture included shows the inner nursery pot that's completely integrated into the root system, and shows how badly the plant was rootbound even in the larger pot. The amount of laziness in maintaining a plant in this way is shocking. I will never buy from Costa farms again. ... show more
