Water it about once a week with approximately 2-3 cups. Ensure excess water drains. Adjust as needed for your environment. Never let White Bird Of Paradise sit in water or saturated soil. It’s about 36-inches tall, measured from the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant. White Bird Of Paradise in a bamboo, 10-inch décor pot. To avoid water spillage, this container does not have holes.White Bird Of Paradise is generally a slow grower, depending on environment and care provided. Boost growth in spring and summer with a fertilizer labeled for potted plants following the product’s instructions. When White Bird Of Paradise outgrows its current container, repot by gently removing it from its container and placing it in a 2-inch wider container. Fill with potting mix and water thoroughly. I got the 3-4 feet one. The box it came in wasn't damaged. The plant itself has some cracked and damaged leaves. I still enjoy it and I'm happy with it. I will nurse it back to full health and even with cracked leaves, it's very majestic and exotic looking. I like how it looks in my powder room. The price is fantastic for what you get. But if you're trying to buy it as a gift, and if you might feel that the plant has to be in perfect condition, then maybe buy the snake plant from this company, because this plant seems to not take well to being handled and has fragile leaves. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. UPDATE- May 16th This girl grows like a wildflower. I've gotten 3 new beautiful leaves since February. I did make a boo-boo. Put her out on my back deck early spring and, the wind with the help of my two German Shepherds really tore up the leaves brushing up against her. But, it's ok. She's got character and, as I stated in my first review BOP's leaves rip easily and, it's natural in their habitat. I repotted her about two weeks ago and, the newest leaf that emerged over the weekend was my biggest. If you love Bird Of Paradise this is a must have. This was a wishlist plant for me. And, I love her. She's back in my sunroom in front of a, south facing window. Whatever you do...wait a bit before repotting. Let her get used to your home. And, enjoy her beauty. If you received her with the white planter make sure there is no standing water in it when watering. You certainly don't want root rot. UPDATE- my BOP has a new leaf about to open in less than 2 weeks!!! 2/12/24 First of all my box came in perfect condition. Thank you, USPS. Second, upon opening the top of the box as soon as I saw the first leaf. I, gasped. What an enormous beauty. After, I unpacked her and, got the plastic wrap off I was surprised to see not, 1 but, 2 plants in the pot!!! What a nice surprise. I absolutely will be separating after they have acclimated to the conditions of my sunroom. I read a ton of reviews on this. And, some folks complained about the decorative pot they did NOT receive. Please, pay attention when ordering. There are two options for this BOP. With two different prices. I also read complaints about the tears in the leaves. People, in this plants natural environment there will be tears. That is part of what makes this plant perfectly, imperfect. I just want to say to, Costa Farms you've put done yourself. I am beyond please with my purchase. If this plant is on your wishlist. Get it, NOW!!! Worde do not describe the atmosphere it brings to a room. Ahh, I'm so, in love. I was excited to receive this plant, but unfortunately, it arrived in less-than-ideal condition. Several of the leaves were torn, which was disappointing. On top of that, the plant was covered in dust, which I could clean, but it made me wonder if proper care had been taken before shipping. It’s still salvageable, and I hope it thrives with some TLC, but the lack of attention to its condition has left me underwhelmed. While the plant itself has potential, I can’t justify more than 3 stars based on how it arrived. ... show more

I was a bit leery about ordering a live plant through amazon... I felt like so much could go wrong! But, Costa Farms worked hard to prepare it for the rough travel. My plant came well wrapped in a saran-wrap type plastic. It was kind of a pain to get off, but they did a good job of thoroughly wrapping it up. It wasn't so tight as to damage the plant, but definitely firm enough to keep soil from spilling. The plant was larger than I expected; in other words, it was the size advertised. I'm all too familiar with products coming so much smaller than they look in the photos, but this beauty is about chest high on me, and I'm 5'9". The leaves are in good shape, and there's only a minimal amount of decay on the edges. In fact, a new shoot and brand new leaf recently grew and unfurled. It's so verdant... a beautiful vibrant green! The plant definitely needed a good long drink after being unwrapped, but I haven't needed to repot it yet. The one they send has worked well. It sits in the bathroom and drinks in the morning sunlight, and it's certainly a happy plant! I have noticed some sort of plastic dust or staining to the leaves. I don't know for sure what it is, but it's a white coating on the leaves that had already opened. I managed to get one cleaned off relatively easily, but the others seem to have held on to the odd residue. The new leaf shows none of that, so I'm hoping as time moves along the ones with the residue may fall off and get replaced with healthier ones. Overall, I was duly impressed by the quality. I got the plant on a deal-day sale, and I'm still shocked I got such a great, mature plant for less than a tank of gas. ... show more
