The ALPS Mountaineering Vertex Air Bed is a great sleeping option whether you have out-of-town guests staying for the weekend or you're camping in the great outdoors. It is constructed of a durable, lightweight and completely PVC-free fabric. The coil system used makes a solid and comfortable sleeping surface for a great night's sleep. The included state-of-the art pump operates via three power options: wall outlet, car adaptor, or rechargeable battery. The Vertex pump comes with a wall adaptor and car adaptor, so you can charge your pump battery wherever you are. Unlike most other rechargeable pumps, if you happen to forget about pre-charging your Vertex pump, there is no need to wait. You can just plug the pump into a power source (car or wall outlet) for immediate use! The pump quickly inflates/deflates your air bed with the “flip of a switch.” A convenient carry bag is included for easy storage and transport. Available in Twin and Queen. I go camping and to music festivals a lot and the blow up mattresses i was buying, like the Intex and coleman and other generic brands always seem to get a hole after one or two uses. That's like 2 or 3 mattresses a year. And i know i could patch them but do you know how hard it is to find a tiny hole in a queen size blow up mattress? I finally decided to find a blowup mattress made out of more durable materials and this one was perfect. It's also more firm then a regular blow up mattress, is super easy to blow up and really easy to add extra air when it deflates a little due to a change in cold weather. Pros: -Sturdy -Seems to hold air after a day -PVC and pthalate free Cons: -Expensive compared to other mattresses of the same quality -with my retractable measuring tape, the alps mountaineering measures 55.5 inches wide and 80 inches long, which is NOT a true queen size mattress. -not as comfortable (it feels rigid) as other inflatable mattresses. -Does not have the size of magnatude of divots and baffles as the sierra designs air mattress (alps has a somewhat flatter surface than that of sierra designs). As such, Sierra designs is Much MORE COMFORTABLE and 1/3 OF THE PRICE!!!!!! -Design flaw for the valve--it should be on the edge of the bead or sidewall, NOT under the bed. It is annoying to deflate and inflate -Bounces a lot!!! THe sierra designs has some bounce when another person is tossing/turning, but the alps bounces a lot more due to its rigidity and flatter surface. Note that any air mattress will have some bounce to it. Overall: There are some design flaws to this air mattress that have made alps mountaineering miss the mark and DOES NOT justify the price of this mattress. Here’s the part you’re waiting for - it stayed inflated for our entire camping trip, and our camping spot was on gravel. We didn’t even need to top it off.
