I've been using this pump since March with know problems. The other night I cleaned it and put it back in. The threaded shaft part broke off. So I contacted Alpine and even though I bought it like new from Amazon Amazon assumes warranty. Alpine decided to honor their warranty and send me a new pump. Kudos to them. ... show more

I've bought this pump multiple times for my 5000 gal pond. Even with weekly maintenance, they work fine until they don't, which is about a duration of 12 months. I'm going to invest in a higher quality and more expensive pump this time.

So I bought this smaller one with half the capacity of gallons. So far it pumps the water at good enough volume but the power consumed is much less than half of the last one.
