I never knew how much I was missing out in getting a camping fridge. Got this for a trip that never happened, but I did get to take it on a 4 day trip to the mountains. Worked great, put it in the bearbox at night and in my cart during the day, to keep it out of direct sunlight. With this purchase I also invested in a mini solar charging system. It does have a variance of temp, I put it at 34 and it would go from 33-40, it truly worked well. I did take a smaller cooler for ice. To solar charge it's even better, it didn't run all the time, but the weather was high 60 to low 40 full sunshine. I can't tell you how great it was to grab my Creamer when the outside temp is high 30 from this fridge and not the usual ice chest. As another reviewer stated they got the insulated case, so I did as well and it has worked out well. I like that you can use different power cords either dc or ac. I like the basket in the freezer section due to the size of the fridge portion. Although I was able to put a pack of 12 eggs and othe items on top. I can't think of any disappointments with this purchase. I didn't even notice the sound of the compressor, there are 2 types LG and not LG. Always get the warranty, if you need it it will pay for itself. I did my homework and this fit my budget and size.     • Great fridge performance, handle issues

First bought this past May of 2023. Great fridge performance - worked for us on multiple week long trips holding temp and drawing almost no power. So great, we love it and has been a game changer for our road trips and stuff. This past Labor Day weekend though we were going on a quick trip and when packing the fridge the handle popped out. It can pop back in - but it clearly has a loose pin and the plastic housing is weakened where it locks in. This results in the handle popping out and the fridge lid opening. Making it work now, but being our fourth trip only, kind of disappointing that the handle has developed this issue. We have been careful with it as well, and we even have a fridge insulated cover as well. I understand issues like this coming up, but so far two calls to customer support have not yielded any response. Giving a 3 star review for now....will update if the issue resolves itself. Update: Did receive a response from customer service today, hoping to get problem fixed. Will continue updates, but glad they reached out. ... show more

The cooler arrived well-packaged and undamaged. I have had it plugged in inside my home since the first day almost two weeks ago. We mainly use it to keep our beers and sodas so that we have MUCH more room in our home refrigerator. The cooler runs on eco mode, set to 37f and will fluctuate between 34f and 41f. It is quiet, the Bluetooth function works flawlessly, and my beers and sodas are ice cold without being frozen. An excellent investment. The (sold separately) insulating cover that is made for this unit fits perfectly and will be quite effective at keeping the cold in the cooler for when we go camping. Love the Alpicool. UPDATE 06/13/21 Have had this cooler camping twice now. I could go on for quite a while, but I will sum it up in this: it draws between 30-40 watts from my solar generator on ECO at 38f. The generator was drawing 50 watts+ four the majority of the day so no problems there. The beer was PERFECTLY cold. I was at the beach in 95f weather in 90%+ humidity. The cooler had one of the custom thermal wraps on it. The cooler had direct sunlight on it for about 1-2 hours per day and it did not affect the cooling power. To compare: My old Koolatron draws 65-75 watts and only keeps the cooler 15-20 degrees cooler than ambient. The Alpicool performed so well, I just ditched the Koolatron and bought another Alpicool. Running two Alpicool's will draw about the same wattage as the single Koolatron and they will keep food and drinks MUCH cooler. Buy this cooler if you're a camper. ... show more

First unit I received was DOA. The shipping box was significantly damaged so probably not Alpicool's fault. I did the RMA which was fulfilled courteously and quickly. After test running my new unit twice for several days at a stretch it works even better than I expected. Gets down to temp quickly and holds temp well. Temp swings a little more in eco mode but I believe that should be expected. Eco draws about 30 watts and max cool draws 58, which beats my old Coleman thermoelectric which draws about 80 watts continuous(and doesn't cool nearly as well). Some of the materials seem a little cheap but carry handles are thick and sturdy. I bought it for camping and road trips in our SUV and this unit draws little power even when the engine is off. It can run a couple hours before battery saver shuts the unit down. I paid extra for the LG compressor model which I'm hoping helps with longevity. So far a good value that I would purchase again. ... show more

4 weeks so far. High efficiency and low power consumption. My last car cooler was a thermoelectric unit. Pulled 65 watts, and only held an inside temperature around 45-50 degrees. This one pulls only 35 watts, and holds consistently 34-38 degrees. I like my milk cold, and I spend a lot of time on the road. The inside light is a nice touch. The lid latching mechanism seems breakable if you let gravity slam the lid closed, so use some care when you close it. I could only hear the compressor and fan when the engine and radio is off. Very quiet operation. But who spends time in the car with everything shut down? And if you do, this unit will shut down at a user selectable battery voltage. ... show more
