I like everything about this fridge except for the very weak link which is crucial. And that is the 12 volt plug. It is really poor made of extremely bad plastic and just so cheap compared to everything else... The fridge cools well. The ice actually gets made and I've been very happy with it. However, after using it a few times, I noticed that the 12 volt plug would not stay in contact with the receptacle... I didn't realize at thinking it was just popping out or something, but the more I used it the more I had to keep pushing the 12 volt plug into the outlet. A few times when removing this I noticed it was quite warm. Well finally, the cheap little plastic thing melted and when I pulled out the plug the end cap came off and the little metal piece was gone. Unacceptable that something like this is heating up so much that it will melt. Alpicool you need a better plug.... Updated rating to three stars. Contacted the company and they sent out a 12 volt plug new one which seems to be improved in than a week. ... show more

It does what it’s suppose to…..it’s not much ice….but it works! I use it as a freezer. Quality ice tray,it’s the right kind of rubber….small!!! But it works.

So far, so good. Very quiet and gets drinks cold fast. I work construction and mostly outside. In the warmer months, it was a pain to have to get ice or ice packs every day to put in a cooler for drinks. I have a crew cab truck and set this in the back seat area, on the floor. Its convenient to get ice cold drinks, all day, every day !!! ... show more

2 seasons of use, we take this on road trips for my work. This smaller cooler has the same size compressor as the larger ones; it doesn't have to work hard. I think it you keep it level and clean the coils every year or two, it'll last a long time. I wish someone made an insulated cover for it. It lasts 16 hours on my Bluetti EB3A, albeit inside a 72° (F) building. It consumes more power if it's sitting in a hotter temperature, inside or out. If it died tomorrow I would order another Alpicool that same minute. I've never had to contact their customer service but Ive read other reviews where alpicool takes good care of their customers. Cooler has been to Bonneville salt flats 3 times, across route 66 all the way to southwest Utah twice, and a handful of shorter trips. When not on the road it stays powered up at home. ... show more

    • A Superior Product despite the Stupid Name

For one reason or another I have been very leary of purchasing anything from China (usually products that happen to also have ridiculous names), but with products like Alpicool I'd really have to forget that way of thinking. Alpicool changed me singlehandedly and unfortunately/fortunately brought me back to Chinese products. As a trucker it is very important for me to have a product that is sturdy enough to handle a shaking truck, quiet enough to not be annoying, and cool enough to keep my food from spoiling. Well, this little fridge is almost completely quiet, appears to be very tough so far, and cools so well I have to be careful with the temperature control since some things could end up frozen. I keep my stuff at 34 or 33 degrees F so everything usually works out perfectly. I, like many other truckers, would usually purchase the Coleman Cooler and other portable fridges that were either noisy, fragile, or didn't cool very well if it was warm or hot outside of the fridge. Well with this Alpicool unit, you have none of these problems. I power it out of a cigarette lighter through a three connection power adapter. Basically it shares power with a Samsung Smartphone and bluetooth headset withouth overcharging or burning out the plug. Basically, it seems like despite the incredible freezing power of the unit, it consumes very low amounts of power. Finally, a great portable refrigerator I can depend on. Sounds too good to be true, but it really isn't. Good job Alpicool! I mean....really good job. ... show more

I will start on what I do not like. This fridge/freezer looses cool air through the top. I do not know if it is a seal problem or if they should have made the lid thicker. That issue however is easily solved. I added some reflecics that I had on hand to the top inside the freezer. I also saved the Styrofoam top that it was shipped in and set a foiled covered piece of cardboard over the holes in the foam. I think this is a little bit to high priced but then I think all the small freezers a bit to high priced. Now that that is said , I love this thing. I have been using it as a freezer 24/7 for about 2 months now. It keeps things frozen beautifully , is lite weight and easy for me to move. If it stops working before the end of two years with good care then I will of course change my rating from 5 star to 1. Oh, I also read in a few comments that some saw the ice tray as useless. I do not. It makes enough ice for a smoothie or 2 cold drinks per frozen tray of ice. ... show more
