The larger screen size is definitely a game-changer. I love being able to see more of my videos, photos, and smart home controls. The improved sound quality is also a big bonus for watching movies or listening to music. I've noticed that the larger screen makes it easier to navigate the interface and see all the available options. Plus, the camera is much better for video calls and taking photos. Overall, I'm incredibly happy with my decision to upgrade to the Echo Show 8. It's a fantastic device that has significantly enhanced my smart home experience.

I bought this product to replace an echo show that I’ve had for nearly 7 years. The old units display with occasionally flicker and I knew it was time for a new one. I am thoroughly pleased with the echo show 8. First off, the increased display size is a welcome change to my aging eyes. It is easier to see and the touchscreen easier to use. I used the option to link the device to my Amazon account, which made set up a breeze when the unit arrived. The sound quality is improved over previous versions. I also ordered the stand that comes with the USB-C port, which is extremely convenient. I am thoroughly pleased with the echo show 8. If there is a drawback, it is that I see more advertisements then I would like. I have the photo display option selected in my settings, and I do not see my photos near as often as I did on my old device. Other than that, I am extremely pleased with the performance of this product. I recommend it.

I had a Show 5 for many years and when I saw the price drop on the Show 8 3rd gen, $104, I couln't wait any longer. What a difference! Not only is the Show 8 display larger, the resolution is amazing! The display is bright, clear and the colors are true and bold. The sound on my Show 5 is muffled and not crisp and clear. The Show 8 sound is crisp, clear and full range. I have my Show 8 on my breakfast bar so I can listen to music while I am cooking. The sound fills my small apartment with pleasent, accurate music that is a joyful listening experience. The touchscreen requires only a light touch and is fast to respond. Unlike my Show 5, the Show 8 responds to my voice commands the first time even from 20 feet away. I still have my Show 5, however it has been moved to my bathroom with its small footprint. If you are looking for a medium sized smart speaker, with fast response, accurate color rendition, full range sound for your music and a budget friendly cost I would recommend considering the Echo Show 8 3rd gen. Paired with a tilt and swivel magnetic base makes it a choice you won't regret.

The media could not be loaded. Riddle: What do you call an "Echo Show 8" when its display isn't working? -You call it simply an "expensive Echo 8"! I've had the display on my new Show 8 (gen. 3) stop working twice in the 3 weeks I've owned and used it. Since this is not my first Echo Show (I've owned 5 of them over the last 4 years, including the 3 I still have now), and I know this display problem is not normal. A reboot (unplugging then replugging in the electrical power) restored the display the first time. This second occurrence of the problem left me concerned: how often can I expect this issue to resurface, and does it just indicate a hardware defect in my unit? So I made the accompanying video so that you could see what I'm referring to. It turns out that telling Alexa to "Turn Off display" while it's having this malfunction (while the display is black and the Display is non-responsive but while the device still responds audibly) And then saying "Alexa" (the wake word) restored the display and its responsiveness (to touch and verbal commands). But I don't think that's a permanent fix. Amazon customer support did advise toggling off the Auto Sleep setting in the device. This might be an acknowledgement of a software bug in that feature, but if it is, it's not afflicting my other Show (a current generation Show 10) that's using Auto Sleep. Except for the above, I do like my third generation Show 8 for the quality of its sound, responsiveness, overall utility (alarms, podcast-listening, news briefs, clock, timers, display of weather conditions, calendar events, home automation of smart lights and smart plugs for fans/+, hours and phone numbers of local retailers, etc.), and the display - when it's functioning properly! My Show 8 (gen. 3) did have one other problem during my first 3 weeks of using it: Increasingly, I needed to repeat the wake word ("Alexa") to get the Show 8's attention. So I positioned my other Show 8 (gen. 1) near it on the same table and asked them both the same question - first the new "gen. 3" Show 8, then the "gen 1" Show 8 (which uses "Echo" as it's wake word). Then I listened to the Voice Activity in the Alexa app on my phone. There was considerable Distortion in the new "gen. 3" Show 8's recording, while the recording of the old (gen. 1) was remarkably clear. The short story is that Amazon customer support recommended the obligatory reboot, and that "fixed" it - for now, at least. (There was a theory that there may have been an external cause, but my testing has been unable to find evidence of that.)

Love this, don’t see how we lived without them before. Super easy to set up, connect, troubleshoot if somethings not connecting right. The family games are super fun and the speaker to play music is amazing for how small it is. I love the slideshow of all the pictures of my family. Great price and nice to see ring cameras on, the only flaw is the inability to use it as a always on large clock. The clock customization is limited.
