This 8" Kindle fire HD purchase is a replacement for an older version of the same size and ability. Primarily I use for reading, audible listening, podcast lisyening music and sometimes as a shopping aid for both Amazon and products from other stores. I find the response time for turn on ANF off, load times, download times much snappier than the replaced version. Also the battery lasts longer than the predecessor. I wish the volume control was more robust. even at highest volume, podcast and Audible sound volume leave so much to be desired, enough that I purchased an echo dot for bedroom audible listening before bed. I also use wireless headphones to listen to audible while doing household chores. The sound idnot garbled in any way, or staticy, just not enough volume for me. Other than that, I am extremely pleased with the speed, the crispness of the print on the page of a book and the movie played on this screen. The variability of brightnesses is also a plus. I used a 258 chip in this, but don't understand how to use the chip for extra storage. I also purchased the Amazon cover to protect it and I like this cover more than the finite brand I used in previous kindles, although it is significantly higher cost. To me, it is worth the price. I had a 10 year old kindle that worked fine but just wouldn't take a charge anymore. I bought a new Kindle from Amazon and saw that for under $20, I could delete ads. The ads were very disruptive when playing a word game. Well, I paid the $20, but the ads didn't disappear. I called Amazon and it was a total nightmare. The person I spoke to was very hard to understand and I was on the phone with her for over an hour. Still the ads appeared. I got this because I love to read but also wanted an Alexa. LMAO! Came fast, no breaks or scratches! It was easy to set up, didn’t need instructions at all. The battery lasts FOREVER, I keep it in my purse and I hardly charge it! It’s easy to look at and doesn’t hurt my eyes! The size is perfect! I enjoy using this tablet but find that it takes FOREVER to get fully charged. I will put it on the charger and after four hours it's like 85%? My phone charges in half that time (and it's five years old!). It's also sometimes a bit slow to respond, but overall works well and has a lot of apps to choose from. ... show more
