The hammer is great, definitely capable of breaking glass. It comes with a test piece of glass. I couldn't help myself from hitting it with JUST A LIGHT smack from the hammer without a windup. The glass flew everywhere and into a million pieces so just beware. Good to have in the car just in case!

I've been in the car business for 33 years. About 8 years ago, I started an auto salvage business. Sometimes, the old junkers are locked up or the doors are rusted shut. These hammers take out the windows so we can pop the hoods, manually shift the cars into neutral, and steer them. They work!

My children loved these great prep gadgets. Obviously hope to not use but good to be aware of how and what to do just in case. Would suggest one for each door. I hope I never need this, but I feel confident it will do the job. It arrived in a small fabric bag, and a round of glass was included - I suppose it was included so a buyer would have something to test it out with. I used the round for something else.

I haven't had cause to use this yet (thank goodness), but even if this thing didn't have a concentrated tip specifically designed for breaking glass, I'm fairly certain simply smacking any window with the hammer would do the job. It is HEAVY and could easily double as a weapon or a wood splitter. (Okay, not really on that last one. But a weapon for sure.) ... show more
