I am a computer professional and have a two monitor system with an apple 27 inch computer and a 34 inch HDMI monitor. The desk is glass and steel/aluminum. The 34 inch is wall mounted. The apple posed a problem. So I built a shelf out of wood and attached it to the side of the desk and by drilling an assortment of holes managed to get the apple at the right height to match the wall mounted monitor. But the wood stuff is quite primitive next to the metal/glass desk. So, I bought a Cardinal Floating Glass shelf (1/2 inch thick). 3/8 would be enough the the Caradinal mounts work best for 1/2 (less jiggling). Someone in the office is certain to sometime take off the (light??) apple 27 inch and put on an old primitive glass tube monitor (40 pounds???) so I wanted something slick to brace the glass shelf. So, I have a cool glass shelf attached to the side of my desk using the Cardinal mounts and then, for security, put one of these Alise L brackets under the glass. I think I could sit on the shelf. The Alise bracket is heavy duty. And it looks as great as any part of the designer desk. To mount the Cardinal glass shelf I mounted a 12 by 12 by 1 inch clear lucite sheet to the desk. The lucite company drilled the appropriate holes for me. Then I attached the glass shelf. Then I braced it with the Alise bracket. All in all, it looks very sharp. It looks like the apple 27 inch computer is floating alongside the desk. I bought a second pair of brackets to mount a glass shelf somewhere else. I will put double sided sticky tape on the bracket and then put a piece of tempered glass on top. But this is for next month. All in all, an excellent quality product. ... show more

I'm very happy with these brackets. I bought them to make a shelf to extend the ledge of my window where I have a cat door for my cats to go in and out. When the product first arrived, I thought it was broken because one of the supports was loose from the bracket. Then, common sense kicked in and I realized they were removable to make it easier to attach the brackets. It also came with all the screws I needed and anchors, which I did not need as I was attaching directly to the studs. That was another reason I bought these to build my own shelf instead of just buying one. I wanted it to be the perfect length so both brackets could attach to studs. After I attached them to the wood for the shelf, I screwed it into the wall then I had to hammer the supports a bit to get them in, but once I was done, I was kind of glad they needed to be hammered in because the supports are now extremely tight and won't budge. The self is very strong and doesn't wiggle even a little bit. I won't have to worry about 3 or 4 cats sitting on it at once and breaking it. I will be ordering more for the other shelves I'm planning to hang! ... show more

    • Definitely not true 90 degree - but they're close enough.
These are OK brackets. They're definitely not a true 90 degree, but they're close enough for a small bookshelf. I like they way they look, and the removable bridge in between is nice when installing as it gives you full access to the screw holes - so that's nice. The bridges are absolutely necessary, without them, the bracket is simply not strong enough - especially being that they're not really 90 degrees to begin with and the bridge makes them a bit more true, but still a bit off. I think I would buy them again - as long as I was using them for something like another simply shelf. I'd likely be a bit more hesitant to get them in a size larger than the 6" I purchased. I bought these because they were Stainless Steel and they wont rust when I use them outside. As stated they are a very good value & well made. For holding up a shelf, indoors they would look fantastic & keep there shine for a lifetime. The diagonal brace fits into slots and is held in place by the load of the shelf. From a manufacturing viewpoint, this was brilliant. It saves time & $$ while making a solid brace. AS I am going to be mounting them side ways to string cable I will add a few spot welds to the brace so the wind doesn't allow it to drop out. ... show more

    • Perfect for my purpose!
Perfect for my purpose. I bought 2 sets to use outdoor on a wooden fence, to create a clothes line. I did not uses the supplied screws and anchors, but purchased 4 1/2 " wood screws by HeadLOK ( which fit through the existing bracket holes ) to go through the fence, through a pressure treated spacer and into the 4 x 4 fence post. Installation of the screws, which require a drill, is made possible by the removable support brace, The 2 holes front and rear on the top were perfect for the clothes line. The rear line (close to the fence), I use to hang an old sheet over when I want to protect anything that that might get hurt by the rough wood of the fence. In addition the holes in the support bracket, are perfect for hanging clothes on hangers. ... show more
