Its a laptop, it has to make concessions when compared to a desktop. Performance is still good though. Runs occulus touch 2 via steam vr with no issues. Fans aren't too loud when running games, but I do have it sitting in a fan tray. Screen is nice color, and fast refresh. Keyboard is very nice. Aesthetics are very good IMHO. All IO ports are on rear, except power (left) and headphone Jack (right). Part of my motherboard failed, affecting usb-c port, and no mic via headphone Jack. Ticket in with Dell, tech brought riser instead of motherboard. No ETA on replacement. Its been 2 weeks now. I had the 15" version for a week, and the power connect was very loose, like 1 knock would break it, and Alienware said it wasn't warrantied, so I returned it. The AC connector seems a bit better in this 17" one, but I'm still super careful with it. It still doesn't feel resilient. For that reason, it stays on desk, and I don't move it to my lap, which is more comfortable. In this regard, I found Razer way better. Razer's are also all metal shell. The alienwares outter surface is a nice matt metal, embossed with logo, but inner is plastic. Oh, the trackpad is nice, and it lights up in sync with keys. Nice touch. I've had no heat problems, but I have had a couple of fps issues from CPU getting maxed! I'm not sure why, but I suspect clock throttling,but most times it runs just fine. But is annoying when it happens in game, but it is infrequent. Obviously, having some hardware fail is not good, but it can happen to any brand. I wish they would change the AC connector/port. I'm super paranoid about damaging it. Update: Dell can't get a motherboard. Unit has to be sent in for a 'refurbished' replacement. ... show more

Don’t buy this model. I bought the 3080 model and use it very carefully. Then during the 2 month that I am using it, it is constantly suffering from the problem of cannot power on. So I am unable to use the laptop for a long time. I asked Amazon how to fix it. They told me I need to go to dell. Even though I purchased a very expensive premium support plan from dell for this laptop, they cannot fix it for me. They told me I have to wait for the part, namely the motherboard to get back in stock. I have already waited for two weeks there is still no reply from dell about the ETA for the motherboard. So basically I bought a broken expensive laptop and no one is taking responsibility. I am really wondering what I paid for… ... show more

Barely had it 4 months motherboard goes out randomly was fine then I went to basic training it was packed up for 10 weeks try to turn it on ... Can't get into it called dell and the customer service was horrible they fonaly said an update probably ruined the motherboard... OK whatever so be careful buying from amazon ... show more

I understand that some back light bleeding is normal for thin bezel displays, but the amount on the model I received is obviously excessive. There are bright areas and spots along the edge of three of the corners that are visible even when the screen is not dark. Very distracting. Lowest rating for Dell allowing this to pass quality control, if that's even something they do. ... show more
